Gomez avoids arbitration, 1 yr/$1.1MM

And That

I wonder how he feels being the starting CF, while Gerut is our 4th OF making 2 mill this year
Probably similar to how Yovani Gallardo feels each and every year with Jeff Suppan raking in millions. It doesn't bother these guys because this is the system we have in place.
I swear I was going to type the exact same thing and then I saw your reply. This happens all the time in baseball.

I'm hoping he works out. I've talked to many twins fans about him and they all say they like him but he can frustrate them at times. I guess he's had some moments were he didn't listen to coaches (when it came to some of his at bats) and that fired up Gardy. They love his defense and passion for the game. It will be interesting to see if he will buy in and be a good teamate in Milwaukee. I hope he does and takes a step forward. Sometimes a change of scenary is all a guy needs.

I hope this will be true for Gomez. I know there is no way to prove this, short of Gomez himself saying it, but could Gomez have felt pressure to live up to being the centerpiece of the Santana deal? Might being "that guy" have made him try to do too much in an attempt to prove that he was worth being traded for a fan favorite?

I´ve heard a lot of good things about Gomez in regard to his hitting. His talent hasn´t translated into numbers quite yet, but many have pointed out that he has some solid pop in his bat (I´ve even heard some say if he can translate his potential to the field he should be a 20+ HR per year guy).

I think sometimes for young players, it just takes a bit of confidence to apply what one does in the bating cages to game situations. He´s probably been pressing some, and hopefully a change of scenery is all he needs to get some of that pressure off.

Ya I've also heard that people think he could end up hitting 20 hrs. One twins fan I was talking to about Gomez predicted 15 hrs this year if he plays a good amount. I'll take that.

Again, the guy should get a chance with us to show what he's got. Let's not get all over him until he gets that opportunity. He's going to frustrate at times but remember he's young and still learning.
