The best way to watch baseball with out cable or satellite? and hooking your PC up to the TV.

InsomniacInkRoss

Me and the wife have pretty much decided to tell Time Warner to take a hike and were looking at the best way to watch baseball now. (Partly for reasons that have been discussed already on this forum.)

mlb.tv? How much? Whats the quality? Do you get every game or do you buy the "Brewers" package? Blackouts? Who are the announcers?

Has anyone routed their PC into the television? Does it look awful? What cables do you need or use? (We have a newer TV with tons of crazy inputs)

Radio the best option?

MLB.TV is an out-of-market package, so you'll get every game except for the Brewers. I believe the Brewers games become available once they've ended, though.

Someone who's an "expert" on this can comment on announcers.

That’s the only thing Chicago’s good for: to tell people where Wisconsin is.

Where you live will determine your blackout restrictions. I believe I paid around $120 for a yearly package last year (including select spring training games) and you get to choose if you want to listen to the home or away broadcast.

MLB.TV offers an HD quality picture, although it's not quite up to the quality of what I get when I watch games on ESPN, but it's pretty close. I have my laptop hooked up to my HDTV through an HDMI cable, but you can also use an S-video cable if you don't have an HDMI output on your computer. The quicker your internet service is, the smoother your footage will run. MLB.TV gets better every year and I assume they will have added some more features once again for the upcoming year.
