Thank You and RIP, Donald Goerke

Did he invent the vomity smell that jumps out of the can, the moment the opener pierces the top?

While I enjoyed them as a kid, I must say I'm grateful that my palate has evolved.

Plus, it seems the orangey-red residue of the sauce was much harder to clean away than is the case with most jarred pasta sauces.

Though I suppose in death, he deserves more than my mean-spirited criticism of his claim to fame.

Farewell Mr. Goerke. You did bring joy to my childhood, as Spaghetti-O night was a treat for sure.

My brother claims Goerke's Corners in Waukesha is named after this guy.

My brother claims Goerke's Corners in Waukesha is named after this guy.
Or maybe one of his ancestors: link

Term: Goerke's Corners [origin of place name]

Definition: Formerly Blodgett; named for Frederick Goerke, blacksmith, wagonmaker, and innkeeper. A post office was located there (under the name Blodgett) from 1885 to 1895, with Frederick Goerke as postmaster.
