Sheets Throws Well During Workout; Cubs May Try to Sign Him?

prophet
That would be a great move by Beane, but I'd look to flip Sheets asap once/if he puts out a good track record of performances earlier on. I wouldn't want to get burned by an injury if I waited until near the deadline to flip him.

I have a hard time seeing the A's being able to outbid the Mets (both in terms of finances and situation) if it came to that, but as a huge Big Ben fan I'd love to see him land in Oakland and would definitely be taking BART over to Mt. Davis to watch him pitch for his three-month tenure here in the Bay Area!

Better than in a Cubs uniform, at any rate...

The reports listed on MLB Trade Rumors say the A's offer was "competitive" and in Big Ben's $8 or $9M/year range and this could go down today. This would be awesome.

But again, with the Mets/As rumors, and now Nady being signed, I'm just glad that it looks like Big Ben won't be wearing Cubbie blue next year.
