Packer Parking

Brian the Automator

Posting this over here, because I'm pretty sure it's off-topic... Heading to the packer game tomorrow. I'm coming from up north, and we're meeting two other people coming from Milwaukee. We're looking to park somewhere to consolidate into one car then find some place near the stadium to park. Any suggestions on either? Probably planning on arriving wherever we park maybe 45-60 mins before kickoff.

Thanks!

Brian

My first thought was to meet the rest of your party at Bay Park Square Mall. It's very easy to find - south of the stadium on Oneida, near where 172 and 41 meet. I wouldn't assume you could leave vehicles there, though.

I haven't lived in Green Bay in almost 20 years, though, so I hope someone more knowledgeable than I chimes in.

Remember: the Brewers never panic like you do.

I'm sure that during the Packer game at least half of the cars parked at the mall will be doing the same thing as you. The mall won't be busy during the Packer game, that's for sure. And if you need to, walk in and buy a soda or something cheap so that you have a receipt that shows you shopped there.

The only problem about parking at Bay Park Square Mall is that the off ramp to get there and all the traffic will definitely hinder your ability. If you're coming from the north, you are probably coming in on 41, so I would actually recommend hopping off on Lineville and parking at the Pro Bowl/Suamico Ale House. Big parking lot. conveniently located off the highway, and it should allow for easy meet up (as opposed to the congestion of Ashwaubenon on a Packer day). Your friends from the north should probably be coming on 43 and if instead of taking 41S, they take 41N one exit, that's Lineville (and there is also a park and ride at the exit as well).

I'll echo what ILuvDaBush said. I'm unfamiliar with that part of the area (Suamico), but would agree that you definitely want to meet up with people far away from the stadium. The foot traffic and traffic slowdown near the stadium on gameday is unreal. The mall (and anywhere on Oneida street) is probably a bad idea for a meeting place. I live on the east side of GB so I usually park off of Holmgren Ave (Ashwaubenon village offices to be exact, closest parking to the stadium for $5). There are tons of places to park off of Holmgren, but you'll probably be coming in on the other side of the stadium. Unfortunately I'm not that familiar with parking spaces on the north and west sides of the stadium. Some of the businesses over there and homeowners might have spots available.

Just make sure you take into consideration how congested the traffic will be when figuring out when you want to be there by. My wife and I usually get there about 3 hours before kickoff (we usually tailgate) and the Oneida exit off of 172 is sometimes backed up even that early. Wherever you park should probably take 15 minutes or so to get to the stadium on foot, another 10-15 to get through security and another 5-10 to find your seats.

As far as leaving after the game and getting home... well, I hope you are extremely patient people. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif

  • 2 weeks later...
Just wanted to follow up on this. Got there about an hour before game time. Parked in the gas station on the northwest side of the stadium for $25. I was parked in, but by the time I got back to my car (maybe 20 minutes after the game ended), I was able to get out and head southbound on I-43 with no issues. A pretty good experience overall, despite my toes being frozen.

I used to attend 1-2 games a year, but i must be getting old because i now refuse to attend anymore late in the year games when it's freezing. Just not enjoyable for me to freeze my balls off for three hours. With my nice big screen HD plasma and it's beautiful picture, i find it much more appealing to sit and watch the cold weather games for free in my heated home with a friend or two, dollar beers instead of eight dollar beers, no waiting in lines to take a leak, and no hour plus ride home.
