Per Ken Rosenthal;

The Braves have reached agreement on a one-year contract with free agent Troy Glaus to play first base, according to a major-league source.

Glaus, 33, has made only six career appearances at first, two last season with the Cardinals.

Don't underestimate Glaus....

It's easy to tear him down because he missed nearly all of '09 with injury but in '08 with the Cards he hit .270/.372/.483 with 27 & 99 ...and he brings a career OBS of .856..... at 33 there's no reason he shouldn't return to form...... plus the Braves are reknown for their meticulous scouting so chances are good that he's healthy....

You think a baseball player isn't going to be able to catch a ball? He's 6'5", & looks like a below-average defender at 3B for his career. He'll be fine at first. This is a savvy pickup by Schuerholz imo, and I think Ennder makes a good point.

Not underestimating his bat, but only 6 games career at first? What if he can't catch anything thrown to him? What's their backup plan?
We are talking about first base here. Not a premiere defensive spot here. We are talking about first base here. OK enough of the Allen Iverson parody there.

I don't think there really is going to be much of a problem for Glaus at first base.
