Local cigar shops and general cigar discussion

InsomniacInkRoss

Looking to get someone a humidor for christmas, just wondering where the best selection is, and, if I can get a decent one for around $40-$50. Are they even worth it at that price? Or do you not want to buy a cheap one? I usually just buy right before I smoke.

Is there a specific smoke shop with some sort of gift pack/sampler thing?

Also, who smokes what? Etc etc. I enjoy Drew Estates, specifcally their Tabak line.

I live in Madison, so that may not help, retail-wise. I like to hit Knuckleheads on State St. when I'm downtown. A decent selection and a large walk-in humidor. Only drawback is I have to be downtown to go there.

I have ordered cigars online a few times, as does my Dad, and have had very good results. Thompson Cigar out of Tampa always has a great selection in their catalogs including bundles and package deals. They almost always have some sort of cigar deal that includes a cherry tabletop humidor (Which is what I have), and is perfect for holding 10-15 cigars in a single row.

I have different levels of favorites regarding price and sometimes I will try something new based on appearance/price, etc. My favorites are Macanudo, Cohiba, Rocky Patel, Fuente and Punch. I would prefer Cohiba all the time, but they are quite pricey.

For example, they have This sampler for $49. It includes 25 cigars and the same humidor I linked above, which they sell on its own for $30.

I would have totally jumped on that sampler pack if I had gotten around to this a week ago.

Ended up at Tobacco Outlet in New Berlin (i think). Got a small but nice humidor and 5 cigars for under $50. Pretty happy, should be a good XMAS present if the guy isn't already reading this.

My friend brought me back a cigar from his recent trip to Honduras and now I can't remember the brand name. I smoked it late one night while shoveling after the plow came through and extinguished it in my snow bank. Hopefully, I'll come across the stub when the snow pile goes down so I can check the band and get the name.

I really took my time with the snow that night--even did the neighbor's pile. Maybe I can bribe them to buy me some cigars and I'll do their driveway all winter....
