Hideki Matsui signs with Angels.

Tyler Kepner of the New York Times is confirming. Supposedly a one year deal worth about $6.5 million.

 

So does this mean Vlad is most likely gone? Matsui will be the DH.

If they get 2009-like production from Matsui (who played on bad knees all season), that's going to be a nice deal. His HR total will dip with leaving Yankee Stadium, but I still really like his approach & swing. I'm really a fan of Matsui, but physically he looks to be nearing the end of the road. Hard to play with chronically bad knees.
