How much is that extension gonna be worth is what I wanna know.
Probably around 6 years and $100-120M. He's arguably just as good as CC, but a couple years older.

You don't have an Adam Wainwright. Easily the best gentlemen in all of sports. You don't have the amount of real good old American men like the Cardinals do. Holliday, Wainwright, Skip, Berkman those 4 guys are incredible people

As part of the deal, Halladay would agree to a three-year extension through 2013, with a vesting option that could lengthen the deal by another year or two, one source said. The extension is expected to guarantee Halladay in the neighborhood of $60 million, plus the $15.75 million he would make in 2010, the final year of his current contract.

According to a source who spoke with two teams involved in the trade, Toronto would get highly regarded Mariners pitching prospect Phillippe Aumont, Phillies catching prospect Travis d'Arnaud and another Phillies prospect in exchange for Halladay. Indications are that the Phillies have balked at Toronto's repeated requests for outfielder Domonic Brown, and the Phillies are offering highly touted outfielder Michael Taylor instead.

Seattle would also send two prospects to Philadelphia in exchange for Lee, who is a year away from free agency.

As of late Monday afternoon, the extension had not been agreed upon. And the Blue Jays and Phillies were still haggling over the final prospect. In addition, Phillies doctors would have to sign off on Halladay's physical.

He's arguably the best pitcher in baseball, there is no other pitcher I'd want pitching for me for one game. For the next 6 years I'd probably have to take Lincecum because of the age.

If it's only 3 years, 20 mil per, this is a great move for the Phils. Lee wasn't going to re-sign before free agency. They get Halladay for three years instead of Lee for one. I'm surprised they didn't have to go longer than three years. I also like this for Seattle quite a bit too. I think they may end up as the favorites in that division.

This trade is insane. Some or all of Blanton, Happ and Drabek could be involved with Philly potentially getting Aumont. This thing is huge

I disagree that the Mariners got fleeced.

The Mariners get one year of Lee AND the two high draft picks when Lee leaves as a free agent.

I don't know the Mariners' prospects like I know Milwaukee's, but from reading Dave Cameron's reaction on USS Mariner ( http://ussmariner.com/200.../the-deal-as-we-know-it/ ) and reading the comments section, it sounds like they are jumping for joy.

The two high picks they get will replenish the system with talent.

I don't know what Milwaukee equivalents would be?

Phillippe Aumont: Zack Braddock with a better pedigree, but if he stays at relief his value is reduced

Tyson Gilles: Michael Brantley with better power

J.C. Ramirez: live high-A arm with some upside, without the results

It seems like less than we gave up for CC, and the M's get Lee for the entire year. Heck, if their season goes down the tubes, they could always trade Lee at the deadline.

It makes me wish we had Jack Z instead of Melvin.

To me it sounds like the Phillies got phleeced. They trade away an ace plus three good/great prospects for an ace and two good prospects. Add that to what they gave up last year to get Lee. That said, the Phillies are still gonna be mighty tough. I just think their farm system has been hit hard.
