Well, that takes my hate of Helms down from a 90 on a 100 scale to about a 70. Deserved or not, I don't like the guy. I hear he is very likeable in person though.

I bumped into him at Mayfair once with his son. He was far from a great player at that point, but when he saw I recognized him, he said hello, and we talked for a minute. I was never much of a fan, but he was a very gracious, nice guy.

Am I the only one who is going to miss him? I thought he was a bad*** and that he looked like a modern day pirate.

You're not the only one, JenkinsBomb. I'm admittedly glad the Brewers have found as many other options as they have at the catcher spot, but I wasn't a hater while Kendall was here. Maybe more of a well wisher, in that I wish Jason no specific harm.

Kendall was always one of my favorite guys to watch as a Pirate; a catcher with the wheels (and OBP) to bat leadoff.

 

He's not that guy anymore, and while I like what he did for the pitching staff, he just doesn't hit well enough anymore to justify the contract he was asking for from the Brewers. Best of luck to him in KC.
