# is basically a symbol for a topic. if you want to search for something in particular, it will bring up everything that people categorize as that.

if you search for "brewers", every post that has "#brewers" will show up in the search.

So I recently joined Twitter, primarily to get updates from McCalvy and Haudricourt. Initially I was receiving the messages via text, but it got to be more than I cared for so I've since stopped receiving texts. However, I have started following others solely online. I mostly use it for sports updates of my favorite teams but am not sure who else is out there. So I'm curious as to who everyone else is following and if they would recommend following anyone. Currently, I'm following McCalvy, Haudricourt, Bret Bielema, Brandon Jennings, and Gery Woelfel. Any other suggestions?

I use it for work (fantasy sports) and have a bunch of beat writers, Chad Ochocinco (OGOchoCinco), and Neil deGrasse Tyson (neiltyson). The latter is a popular astrophysicist who is really down to earth (no pun intended) - quite funny and informative. I highly recommend following him.

I initially thought I was going to hate being on twitter, but I actually enjoy it. It's a really good way to follow musicians. A downside is that if your tweets are protected only people who follow you can see them so there's not a whole lot of interaction, but it is a good way to got information in the least characters possible.

I don't know of any players that are currently on Twitter. Seth McClung was using it last year, ripped Ken Macha a lot, and took it down this spring when he was trying to catch on with another club. Lorenzo Cain and Eric Arnett had feeds last year, but Arnett's just disappeared and Cain has had like two tweets and hasn't had any since March.

I actually wonder if it's organization policy to not tweet, at least during the season. It wouldn't surprise me, especially after what happened with McClung last year.
