Rockies have asked about Corey Hart

Recommended Posts

I thought Murton would've been a good outfield option for us. He's produced every time he's gotten an oppurtunity.

Since I can't imagine we'd get one of their good, young pitchers, I'd ask about Seth Smith.

I would love to get Jimenez, obviously would take more than Corey Hart to do it. There really isn't a reason for CO to trade him either, but I can dream. Jimenez would easily start with Hart, one of our catchers, and a couple of our good SP prospects.

ALso wouldn't mind if we could get Jeff Francis and get his career back on track after an injury plagued and largely ineffective 2009.

They probably have enough good arms so they could be persuaded to part with one for the right package.

Maybe kick the tires on Tulo while you're at it . . .

Seriously, Jimenez is not going anywhere.

That is why I said that CO has no incentive to move in. Even though I know it would never happen its not like I can't hypothesize.

I could see something with Jeff Francis though....

Maybe they'd deal Hawpe for Hart to save some cash. Hawpe's the better hitter and he's lefthanded, but Hart's speed would be an asset in Coors.

I agree Francis could the target if it's a pitcher. I don't think the Rockies need to move salary enough to give up Cook for Hart.

I'd move Hart if the Rockies were offering something reasonable. At this point he appears to be a bench quality player. He might bounce back to his 2007 level but I'd rather some other team bank on that. If Jeff Francoeur can be traded for actual talent, I have to believe somebody would be willing take a chance on former All-Star Corey Hart.

Hawpe is an interesting idea. The Rockies lineup is definitely LH heavy, and they have already been rumored to be possibly shopping him. As JB noted, they may do a straight-up swap just for the money saved.

That of course means the Brewers would be taking on more payroll, which doesn't seem likely if the team ends up signing Randy Wolf, but Hawpe's LH bat would look nice in the Brewers lineup.
