Former Brewer farmhand Marco Scutaro signs with the Red Sox

And That
It's a 2-year deal for Scutaro, according to Ed Price. Have to hand it to the guy. He stuck with it and had a breakout season at age 30, followed by some more decent campaigns and another good year when his contract was up. If the BoSox make it back to the World Series, he's one guy I'll definitely be cheering for.

Quoting the MLB Trade Rumors post:

ESPN's Buster Olney has the terms on Scutaro: $1MM signing bonus, $5MM in 2010, $5MM in 2011, and a 2012 option with a $6MM club option, $3MM player option, and $1.5MM buyout. That makes it a two-year, $12.5MM deal

Not a bad deal at all for the Red Sox. Sure, Scutaro was a Type A who was offered arby, but I'd be willing to bet that they went ahead and signed Scutaro once it was announced Wagner was signing with Atlanta and they'd be assured of at least one first round pick.

Just remember, Scutaro apparently wasn't good enough for the former regime to give a chance to, despite putting up fine offensive numbers and being flexible. They just needed that Luis Lopez to provide veteran presence.
