Why? Jones is a worse player than Jenkins and really needs to be platooned.

On the plus side Jones would kill some of the insects in the outfield with some of his throws.

It may be worth it if there was considerable money saved, but Jones will be paid $4M next year and $5M in '08. Meanwhile, he posted his first OPS above .800 in 4 years last season. I'd rather gamble on Jenkins returning to form than Jones being above average. I don't even consider Jones to be an upgrade from Mench, who had solid track record until collapsing in Milwaukee last summer.

I would be surprised to see Jenkins traded. If he is, it will be

to a West Coast team. Padres, Giants, A's now that Frank

is gone. Mench, release him or something. He reminds me

of Kevin Riemer? (Spelling might be off.)

As a CF, I'd consider Jones. As a LF/RF, he's a platoon guy, and not a very good one.
