Edwin Jackson

Yeah, I was just coming to post that. Wonder what the reasoning is. They say 12 teams have made offers. Maybe Melvin feels they'd have to give up too much to get him.
Melvin was quoted earlier as saying he spoke with the Tigers before about Jackson. So it would be odd that Melvin wouldn't be making an offer now unless they discussed an offer before and Melvin thought it was to much for Jackson.

Looks like Jackson might be going to the Dbacks in a three-team deal:

The New York Yankees, Arizona Diamondbacks and Detroit Tigers are on the verge of the first major trade of baseball's winter meetings, a deal that would send Tigers outfielder Curtis Granderson to New York, sources told ESPN The Magazine's Buster Olney.

In the trade, the Diamondbacks would obtain Edwin Jackson and Ian Kennedy, while the Tigers will pick up Max Scherzer, Phil Coke and outfield prospect Austin Jackson.

Sorta tricky to nail down what Edwin Jackson's price is, since it's a three-way deal. Would it be right to say that it's roughly Scherzer + Austin Jackson?

Color me surprised that the DBacks wanted to move Scherzer to get Jackson. I just don't see a huge difference between the two, and Jackson is more expensive.
