IU is just terrible. Crean is a terrible coach. I don't think they'll ever be that good while he's there.

I know they're really young, but 21 turnovers is awful. Crean's teams never take care of the ball. That's got to be so frustrating to watch if you're a fan.

We were 5-for-6 from behind the arc about halfway through the first half, and he dropped their defense into a 2-3 zone.

Yea, and considering the badgers had a total of 6 points in the paint against illinois, i can't see how he thought that was at all a good move.

To the Badgers fan, sitting courtside, sporting the black t-shirt & 3 gold chains worn around his neck & outside the shirt... Really? Come on.
I missed the Wisconsin-IU game, but your description makes me think of the guy who sits courtside, opposite the opposing bench and right next to the media table. The usual occupant of that seat is Curt Mueller of Quench Gum fame, and it's not uncommon for his outfits to 'stand out.'

Wow, well this is nice to see after that loss. Bohannon went crazy today. 30 points with 7 threes.

I have to give credit to Bohannon for how he has asserted himself this year since the start of conference play, but it would have been nice if he wouldn't have waited 3.5 years before starting to assert himself as a scorer.

Marquette is listed as getting another verbal commitment and a juco transfer for next year - and of course, they are a 6'4" shooting guard and a 6'6" small forward. Five guys coming in and none of them over 6'6". If they had anything for a power forward or center this year to grab rebounds and provide low-post defense they would have won some of those close conference losses and could easily be a top-15 team if not higher.

IU was terrible today -- hard to even really get excited about that win. I haven't seen an opponent of Bucky this season that was anywhere close to being as bad on defense as the Hoosiers were today. Kudos to Bohannon, though. He was certainly on fire.

Awesome. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif I noticed Leuer talking with Alando Tucker from the bench during the first half against IU. From the body language of the exchange, I assumed/guessed they were talking about when Leuer would return, but I have nothing aside from assumptions to back that up.

Out of curiosity am I the only one that roots for both UW and MU unless they are playing each other? I always lean towards UW and always have for the in state match ups, but beyond head to heads I want to see all the teams in the state do well.

I don't think you're the only one. I'll admit that I don't make a concerted effort to stay informed about MU hoops (beyond what appears in this thread), but in games where UW (or UWGB, where I worked for a couple of years during the Dick Bennett era) is not the opponent, sure, I'd root for them.

I'm pretty much the same as you, TheCrew. I will root for both UW and MU unless they play each other. It seems to me that having two good basketball teams in the state can only be a good thing. I follow the Badgers exponentially more than I do MU, but I have nothing against the Warriors. It's nice to have two teams to root for in the NCAA tournament, because if one team loses, you could have another team still in it.

I am a huge fan of both. Grew up all things Badgers, then went to Marquette. As a result, I follow both teams pretty intently but for head to head I have to go with MU.

Other states are totally different though. For example, I have yet to meet someone from Mich who likes both Mich and MSU. If Mich is eliminated from something, a Mich fan will never root for MSU and vice versa. Maybe it would be different in WI if MU and UWM were in the same conference.

My family has very mixed basketball allegiances. My father is a UW grad who has been a Marquette season ticket holder since the mid-1990s. He cheers for both although he tends to favor Marquette now. I always liked both, but favored Marquette--and I was really into Marquette basketball when I went to Marquette High School in the early 2000s. When I came to UW, I initially still favored Marquette, but I quickly switched--it was for sure after I went to a game freshman year where Taylor, Tucker, and Butch lit up #2 Pittsburgh. My brother now goes to MU and is a huge Marquette basketball fan.

Of course, I still have a soft spot for Marquette after all those years, and it has actually been easier to pull for them since Crean left. However, I heavily cheer for the Big Ten over the Big East, I like the style of basketball much better in the B10.

Same here. I love the rivalry, but outside of that I'm definitely a MU-backer.

Huge Badger fan......but only cheer against MU when they play UW. Was a UW student, did some grad work in Milwaukee and had MU tix while living there. I never liked Crean, and since he has left I have followed MU a ton more. Buzz needs to recruit someone bigger than 6'6" one of these years.

Having both teams do well over the last decade has been great for Wisconsin overall.

I'm a Badger fan first, but I'm a big fan of both. Didn't go to either school, so that's fair, right?

I loved Bo's quote after the game yesterday. "When Jason arrived as a freshman, he couldn't guard the out of bounds line."

I do too, actually.? I didn't go to either school, but I will root for local athletes.

On an unrelated note, anybody see Brian Butch's weekend?? He got dunked over for the winning dunk in the D-League dunk contest on Friday, and then finished with 18/13 to be named All-Star game MVP.? Pass the Pep's!

Syracuse lost at home to unranked Louisvile. Georgetown lost to lowly Rutgers.

Like I said, I guess the Big East is full of average teams.
