Orioles, Indians and Padres (oh my)

Today's rumor updates.....

Baltimore is looking for a left fielder with power, they are considering Cliff Floyd and Luis Gonzalez, BUT, they would prefer a right-handed hitter, since their other outfielders bat lefty. Gonzalez is also talking with St Louis and Seattle.

Cleveland will sign Roberto Hernandez, unless he is offered arby, he is a Type A free agent.

Padres, are talking to Mr Graffanino, but are also watching to see if the Brewers offer arby. The article I saw really didn't elaborate beyond that, ESPN says the Brewers ARE expected to offer arbitration.

Joe Borowski failed a physical with the Phillies, their doctor did not like something on an MRI. They may still offer a one-year deal, but have pulled any multi-year consideration.

Mark Mulder got the red carpet treatment in AZ yesterday, nothing imminent, lots of teams in that mix.

Yankees have interest in Andy Pettitte if he wants to go one more season. Gil Meche and Ted Lilly interest NY, but (are you ready for this) the Yankees think this year's market went a bit too far, pricing these pitchers a bit too high as they begin to look at cost cutting. Shea Hillenbrand is also a possibility for the Yanks.

Ray Durham, may have to move to LF to find a new home. Teams like his bat, but not his glove, or his contract demands thus far.

Graffanino is gonna look at the brewers and not like what he sees...someone will eventually sign the guy, though he should probably consider firing his agent...

even if he accepts arby, the brewers will trade him...

i'm beginning to think that people don't like this guy...thats the only reason i can think of for him just being dumped by the red sox last year...

I did see somewhere that the Brewers are expected to offer arby, but then SD is expected to withdraw their offer to him. Should be interesting, and I agree he should fire his agent for screwing it all up. But I still think we're better off with CC since he can play SS, plus the two picks. Very nice outcome.

Give them Jenkins, they would eat his contract, he isn't a righty, but he is better than Cliff Floyd or Luis Gonzalez at this point. At the plate and with the glove.

Well I think his agent probably got caught up in the early offseason hysteria, and forgot one of the long standing trends in free agency. For non elite players the guy who signs first usually signs for the most. When your down to only one team bidding on you and your probably there second or third choice they don't open the wallet so much and it's not like you have a lot of options. So the trick is to be the guy that signs early while many teams have money to spend.
