End of Season Press Conference

ewizabeff
The Brewers end of season press conference starts in just a few minutes. It's on 1250AM. Listen to it streaming http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif Sounds like there's also a Brewers retrospective tonight at 6PM on 1250

On Ben Sheets:

"The bridge hasn't been burned. Any comment Gord?"

That seemed kind of strange to just say that and then have Ash comment on it. Gord says of course they'd be interested but they don't know how rehab is going since he's no longer in their care.

But he gives Suppan a lot of credit for taking the ball a lot and not getting injured. Hooray for that.
He actually said "not getting injured very often." http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif

Will McGehee's breakthrough impact Gamel?

Doug: It probably slows his progress to the majors a bit. Is Casey McGehee Casey Blake? Thinks his struggle with defense was related to his knee injury. He had the opportunity to have a "full" surgery that would have kept him out for most of next year, but he chose to just get it cleaned up.

So this sounds like it will be an ongoing issue. Wonderful.

Fan is short for fanatic.

I blame Wang.

It's hard to truly speculate on trades and free agents at this point. It's looked down upon to start talking about specific free agents before the World Series is over, right? A Rod got in a mess like that a few years ago.

Yeah it still considered tampering until the player is actually a free agent which doesn't happen until after World Series. The idea that this could become chronic means McGehee should be gone if the opportunity presents itself.

I'd love to hear a detailed description of Casey McGehee's injury...

What injury do you play with all season, get "cleaned up" - but still requires a "full" surgery eventually?

I guess he played great with an injured knee. With a "clean up", he might be an all-star. With the "full" surgery, he would probably be Babe Ruth.
