Football HOF: Favre a Viking?

44Fishy

Players go into the baseball HOF as a representative of a particular team right?
Like I think Reggie Jackson is depicted as a Yankee, not a member of the A's-
And the decision is usually made by the player, right?

Is it the same way at Canton?
I've always assumed Favre would go in as a Packer-
Is it possible he could just really decide to be vindictive and elect to be enshrined as a Viking if he wanted to?

Or is that decision made by the HOF officials or the NFL or some group of writers?

the NFL Hall of Fame does have a player "painting/lithograph" above his HOF bust, so, I suppose it is possible that a Viking version could be put in, but, you know, I'd put the odds on that happening at about 1,000,000:1 or so.

but since SD bought Winfield's cap

I thought it had to do with Wade Boggs and his contract with Tampa Bay to go into the Hall as a Devil Ray.

That’s the only thing Chicago’s good for: to tell people where Wisconsin is.

As Brett always reminds everyone, "It's MY legacy, not the public's." He'll do whatever he wishes I guess. I've lost so much respect for him. Anyway, I'm going to MN tomorrow for the game with some friends.

The other side of that coin is, without the public he has no legacy. They don't play NFL games in a vacuum.

Casey's right, Boggs' contract signed with the D-Rays had him going to the Hall as a D-Ray. MLB stepped in and decided that it was their call, not the players, which hat a player wears going into the HOF.

NFL players don't go in for any specific team.

Can he go into the Hall as a tool?
The Daily Cardinal at UW-Madison had a funny headline in Monday's print edition, above a photo of the Badgers celebrating with Paul Bunyan's axe. I don't remember the exact wording but the gist was that the Badgers had no need for Brett Favre, since (by keeping the axe) they had their own "old tool."

Though we are really heading into Lambeau Leap territory, I'll add that I think if Favre's main goal were to stick it to the Packers, he'd retire today.

Remember: the Brewers never panic like you do.

Did anyone notice the commercial for the commemorative Favre football during the game? One side of it listed his passing records, his Super Bowl championship, his NFL MVP's and Pro Bowls, a big Viking logo and the other side had a painting of him in his Vikings uniform. Of course not one of those accomplishments occured in a Vikings uniform. It just struck me as completely lame and tacky.

Are there San Diego Charger's memorabilia held dearly by fans citing all of Johnny Unitas' career accomplishments on display anywhere?
