Putting Videos Up on YouTube

I want to put some short videos (2 minutes or less) I shot on my digital camera on youtube. I tried putting one up the other day and it took forever, so I stopped it. I have a Mac for my computer, so the videos are AVI files, is that the problem? Do I need to convert the videos to a different format to more easily put them on youtube? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

If they are really huge files it will take awhile. If they are really big files upload them when you have something else to do. It is probably a compression problem that is making your files really big or you have a poor upload speed to their server.
