Chris Hayes becomes Rule 5 eligible this year if the Royals don't put him on their 40 man roster -- and being the Royals, they probably won't.

I'd love to see the Brewers take a shot at him, he's a good bullpen arm for cheap, who just keeps getting guys out.

I know a lot of people around here hated RJ Swindle, and Hayes has similar stuff, his FB is only 78 MPH, but he pounds the zone, and gets a ton of groundballs. I could very well see him filling the 6th-7th inning role that McClung & Villanueva filled this year.

Very low ceiling, 4.50 ERA in AAA. At best, he's minor league FA material, not Rule 5.

 

RHP's that can't hit 80 are either knuckleballers or in the minors.

An FIP of 3.30. Its almost like a BABIP of .363 and alow strand rate is driving his ERA or something....
