The Office Season 6

BrewCrewForever
Wow, so many negative vibes on the Office lately. Kinda like when Cheers was nearing its end I guess. You just can't expect the show to stay fresh without changing and you can't expect the same things to continue being funny. I still enjoy every minute of it.

Yeah, it's still my favorite show on TV by far. I was a bit disappointed to see a clip show, but even this episode had some bits that had me laughing, like the Computron and Dwight pretending to be Toby. Hopefully next week we get something more substantive.

Tonight's episode was not quite as funny as usual, IMHO. One of those "plot advancement" episodes they have to do every once in a while. The Pam/Jim storyline seemed kind of lame and forced, but I did get some laughs out of seeing David Wallace again. I hope the next new one is a bit better.

I thought Michael was solid in this episode when his behavior has usually been the show's weakness. He had a couple of good moments. Other than that, yeah, plot advancement.

The Christian Slater cameo in the Sabre video would have been so much better had NBC not decided to inexplicably add it in to the promos that aired @ 7:50pm. A few things bothered me about that promo:

  • it's not in any way pertinent to the episode and ruined the surprise element,
  • that in and of itself is not enough to entice anyone on the planet to watch
  • 99.9% of the people watching Parks & Rec would watch The Office no matter what (although I'm slowly beginning to wonder what's the point...)

I also thought the Desperate David Wallace was a nice touch.

P.S. my wife got knocked up a few weeks after the last episode of Season 5 when Pam found out she was pregnant and is now about 3 weeks from her due date. How much longer can they possibly drag this thing out?

I thought the whole "box" episode at the beginning was pretty good. As was Michael's quick cut-ins to say he didn't like something that was being changed.

Dwight was almost literally a no-show for most of the episode. He had a line at the beginning, he held the hot dogs, and then ran for orange juice. That was it--kinda disappointing.

Noticed they had Ed Helms in the opening credits shots now.

Oh, and I totally get Michael's comments about the metallic taste of things. "You can really feel it in your fillings." True that!

Yeah, Pam must be about 10 months pregnant by now. I agree with the Christian Slater comments. It totally ruined the surprise. I just watch Zombieland, and a certain celebrity had a cameo in it that I thought was hiliarious ("We're going to the very tip-top of the A-list!"). Had he been included in the trailers, it might not have been funny at all.

I hope they don't drag this show out to the point where it pains me to watch something I once loved (like Scrubs).

Yeah, Dwight was basically a no show, and I didn't get what was supposed to be so funny about the hot dog thing. Why would he seriously just put them on the floor instead of the conference room or something? Just silly and not really in character for Dwight.

The new character (whose name I've already forgotten) from Sabre seemed pretty dull and uninteresting so far too. Not really sure what to think of Kathy Bates' involvement yet.

I also agree on the NBC promos for the episode. They have a habit of giving away too much in their commercials for The Office in general. I remember they did the exact same thing when Jack Black was on the show.

by the way, I have to give mad props to the drumming kid. He's got some talent and looks to be somewhere in the 9-12 year old range. Keep beatin' buddy!

I loved the David Wallace appearance. Turns out the one guy in Dunder Mifflin who truly respected Michael was also an idiot.

I guess I had a different take on it. It seemed like Michael might have been willing to just be fired, but then saw a person he once respected who was fired and realized his issue wasn't worth getting fired. I thought that part was pretty funny. I also agreement with BC04...the song was hilarious.

The dogs sniffing Andy had me rolling as did Kelly's insta-crush on him.

I thought Andy's character was great last night. Between the dogs sniffing his crotch and his comment while having tissues in his nose because of Phyllis' smell had me rolling. And I loved at the end when Jim put Dwight's tie in his coffee... I hope that means the old Jim is back!
