well recyclops was only there because nbc forced every episode to "go green" this week, which is why that out of place segment was there. Overall i agree it was pretty weak. I am going to hope it was only there to set up the 2nd half of the season.

I tend to agree in that the episode was more on the serious level. There wasnt exactly much funny about the shareholder meeting.

Yeah, it was more a plot advancement episode than a comedy episode. Personally I kind of thought Recyclops was amusing, but definitely nowhere near the best opening bit they've ever done. I did like Michael telling off that senator and then hijacking the limo, though.

That doesn't necessarily mean that the segment had to be SO stupid and unfunny. It could have at least made sense if Dwight had just been really annoying and tried to be the office disciplinarian about minor recycling infractions.

Instead, he put on hockey gear, started just randomly throwing stuff around and dumping out the water cooler all over the floor? Why??

Maybe I'm just being too picky, as it was only the opening to the show. Still, what made the show funny in the first place was at least a touch of realism and subtlety. Nobody would EVER act like Recyclops did, and no way a bit like that comes anywhere near an episode during the first season.

NBC always does that type of stuff. Didn't they try to get each of the top Thursday night shows to guess star a character from another Thursday night show back in the day. Like one of the guys from Friends was supposed to be on Seinfeld. The Seinfeld writers thought it was so stupid that they went ahead and wrote him into the episode, but had him killed off...so of course NBC canceled the whole thing.

He was essentially LARPing. His character had a backstory and then proceeded to go on an adventure over the course of 5 years in which he went from being a protector of the environment to a creature that wanted to wipe out the human race. It thought it was freaking awesome myself.

I'll agree that this probably was not one of the funnier episodes of the season. However, Michael is supposed to be moronic and inept. His social compass is way out of line. That's part of his character. He's supposed to make you squirm at the things he says and does. It's not supposed to be "realistic" it's supposed to be a caricature of reality.

To me it's like House or Larry David (although, right now, Larry David is by far my favorite "character" on TV). If these guys just acted normal and maybe occasionally said or did something outrageous or shocking, they really would not be that interesting to watch on TV.

I don't get all the hate for this episode. The comedy wasn't that great but it once again showed why Micheal is such a great person. He may not be the most sane or socially normal person but he cares about people more than business. The board of directors was there to tell the people we lost your money and we don't care. Michael regained order to the meeting and then tried to fix the problem but the BOD just wanted to move on. I'm guessing that DM is going to go under and Michael and Jim and possibly Andy and Dwight are going to buy the branch and continue possibly under The Michael Scott Paper Company.

I agree. The evolution of Recyclops was the funny part, not necessarily the end product.

yeah, I, too, thought when Oscar was brought in that he was going to "man up" and tell the board some of the things he was saying in Scranton or to Andy in the audience regarding the company "wasting" money. Then, the Board of Directors would listen and use that as part of Michael's 45-day plan.

Oh, wait. Then that would be TOOOOO unbelievable, since there is no way that a real-world company's Board of Directors would get rid of money-wasting things.

Overall, it was a solid episode. Not entirely funny but pretty okay.

I loved Jim throwing Ryan into a closet to do his work to get his point across. It's the kind of thing that I would definitely do as well.

I was squirming along with Michael the whole way. That would have to have been so painful to sit through a "pep rally" in your honor, knowing what you have to tell those kids.

I liked how quickly the "tots" went from smiling, proper young men & women to the opposite in a matter of seconds.

Dwight's impersonations were pretty funny, indeed. Especially Kevin.

I liked last night's episode. The whole "Scott's Tots" was so over the top and painful at the same time.

I just hope they don't go too crazy with the Dwight/Ryan plot against Jim. Realistically Jim should be much more wary of Dwight going forward, since it should be obvious he tried to get him in trouble with David Wallace.

The promotions on NBC made this episode look very bad, so I had rock-bottom expectations. Because of that it was more enjoyable than I expected but I still found it sub-par as a whole, although Creed's "I'm starting to think Pam isn't even pregnant" quip is an all-timer. The whole "Jim is incompetent" angle is bothering me because it's annoyingly out of character. Why would Jim just take Dwight's numbers and run with it? Is it the stress of the new job? The new baby? Is it a satirical play on how every manager is incompetent?

And Ryan asking in on Dwight's diabolical scheme is embarrassing. The pay-off better be worth it.

Wow, I ust be alone. I thought the whole Scott's Tots thing was hilarious. "I've made a lot of promises I couldn't keep, but this one was the most generous of all." A case of paper instead of laptop batteries would have been more fitting, but oh well. It is well within Michael's character to have made a promise like that with good intentions, then putting off the inevitable bad news.

I also think the whole "Dwight making Jim look bad" angle is interesting.

I like the idea of Dwight's plan to take down Jim using an Employee of the Month award, but the execution was poor. I was hoping for a much more elaborate plan from Dwight that would have eventually failed him at the end (like it did). I just don't buy that A). Jim would have fallen for Dwight's system and B). that the other employees would have actually given money towards the EOTM award. Its not like its an office NCAA basketball pool or anything.

It will be interesting to see where they take this Dwight/Ryan vs. Jim thing.

The tots part was pretty funny and I'm starting to like Erin's character a lot.

You don't have an Adam Wainwright. Easily the best gentlemen in all of sports. You don't have the amount of real good old American men like the Cardinals do. Holliday, Wainwright, Skip, Berkman those 4 guys are incredible people
