This show is in danger of going off the season pass list for me. It is and has been kind of blah for a while now. One or two nice laughs a show isn't really enough.

Fan is short for fanatic.

I blame Wang.

Easily the two best parts of last nights ep were megadesk and the return of Todd Packer. I can't even remember the last time Pack Man was on. And its funny because just a few weeks ago a buddy and I were talking at work that he never is on anymore. And then he returned!

Megadesk may have been the funniest thing of the whole season for me. And it was refreshing to have the Jim and Dwight feud back to normal.

And Pam getting a break opened up some more screen time for other characters, which I liked. All around, one of my favorite episodes of the season.

Wow! That was the Office's funniest episode in I don't know how long. Best of the season for me. Money quotes:

  • "Trash? Its code. Meredith, take your dress off!"
  • "Hey! There's nothing I can do about my wide-set eyes."
  • "People love shells from far away beaches."
  • "Jim, Don't use your cute baby to make us like you" ... "She's wearing a onesie."

Yeah, very funny episode last night. I hate to say it, but I'm kind of glad the Pam character is off the show right now. It seems like it has opened up a lot of time for some of the other characters that were getting somewhat overlooked (Kevin, Oscar, Darrel, etc).

Tonight's episode?

Number one for me this year.

Funny moments---

Creed? -- check

Dwight? --check

Seriously, I think EVERYONE had a funny line or moment in this episode. I laughed the whole time. The only time I cringed was when "Date Mike" made his appearance and ruined things. They always write stuff for Michael that is just too absurd. Luckily, it worked out for him--it usually doesn't. And, for once, it was gosh darn funny.

I liked last week's better, but they've been on a roll ever since the return of Todd Packer to the screen in the closing moments of the episode 2 weeks ago.

I've given up on any semblance of realism involving Michael, so I actually found the whole 'Date Mike' concept was actually quite funny. I mean, the guy keeps a Kangol in his trunk just in case a night out turns into a date. That just cracks me up. The Japanese warehouse guy's monologue at the end tonight was great, too. Craig Robinson in the background really sold it for me.

Did they ever show Creed in the bar? If not, what a missed opportunity.

"Date Mike" was probably the least funny thing I have seen in a long time. IMO, The Office is easily the fourth best show of NBC's comedies on Thursday night.

It seems as though there is at least one point per episode that I have to flip off the office because of the antics of Mike. It is cringeworthy had much of a fool they make him be. On the plus side I thought it was hilarious when Kevin was in the background making sexual hand gestures behind Andy and Erin?.

It's not as if it's been some drastic change in character, Michael's been low brow and sophomoric from the beginning. Sure we can demand growth and maturity, but Michael being Michael is what makes the office "The Office".

Point --- hasn't 30Rock dropped off a cliff or do I just keep catching half-assed episodes by random chance? I'm not a consistent watcher of the show until it comes out on DVD. I thought the last half of season 3 really lagged though, save for a few that were among the best they've ever done (Apollo, Apollo comes to mind).

I'd agree on 30 Rock. I've always thought that The Office treated its viewers with more respect, if that makes any sense. There's plenty of subtelty in The Office, and it's paced to give you time to digest it all. And it rewards you for paying close attention and having knowledge of the entire series and its character development. 30 Rock is funny, but it seems to just jump from obvious joke to obvious joke so fast there's not time to process one before the other comes up. It makes for more laughs packed in a half-hour, but they feel a lot cheaper.

Then again, I haven't watched the entire series, so maybe I've missed a lot of quality that I haven't had the patience to give a chance to. I think The Office is still the most well-crafted show on Thursday night, though Parks and Rec is climbing the ladder very fast.
