Link Report for Wed. 9/2 -- Sounds lose matinee, now in danger of missing playoffs

Mass Haas

With Lasker working 87-88, he's lost of some of his shine to me personally, pre draft he had hit 94 on some guns and was working around 90 consistently, I would have expected him to add velocity, not drop it. I'm as puzzled by that revelation as I am by Anundsen dropping 5 MPH after the draft. I guess Frederickson isn't working 94-96 like some profiles had him either, but at least he works mostly in the low 90s.

And since Cappy is just pitching in the low to mid 80s now, he's going to have to get his velocity back to be any kind of MLB starter. He'll get kids out in the lower levels by locating his off speed for strikes, but like Cody I'm not sure that success will continue to translate as he works his way back up the chain.

Check out these sick splits for Logan Schafer this season:

A lefty CF with a .336 average vs LHP's in 113 ab's. Not a huge sample, but it is a whole season. I really think this guy is surging past Lo Cain this season.

Also, Eric Farris just keeps performing. I like the guy. His numbers after the All-Star break are fantastic (.800+ OPS). He may not be an elite 2B prospect given his age and what not, but I'm glad he is on our team.

TheCrew, Chris Mehring said in his blog last night that Lasker topped out at 92 and was mostly working on his breaking stuff. I'm thinking of driving down to Beloit on Saturday night to get a look at him, so hopefully I'll get a good read on his fastball.
