With his next home run, Ryan Braun will reach the 100-HR mark. He continues to chase Albert Pujols/Ralph Kiner for the most home runs hit in the first three seasons of a career (114), but it doesn't appear he'll get there unless he goes on a huge tear. He could, however, catch Eddie Matthews (112), Mark Teixeira (107), and Joe DiMaggio (107).

Some of the names Braun has already passed: Frank Robinson (98), Ted Williams (91), Mark McGwire (84), Ryan Howard (82). Granted, the numbers are a bit skewed since they only measure seasons by years and not games played, but Braun's about to join a pretty exclusive club, which is even more impressive considering that he got a late start his rookie year. I can't even imagine where he'd be if he didn't battle with the intercostal strain for the last couple months of last season.

On another note, Prince's homer last night was career shot #150. With 118 RBI, his next run batted in will tie the career high he set in in 2007. He's only 9 RBI away from breaking the Brewers' single season RBI record.

I'll be at the UW Field House tonight, with a yet-undetermined combination of UW and Brewers gear. Come on, home team.

Another early high pitch count for Yo tonight...definitely looks like he's been hitting a bit of a wall. If the Cards series to start September doesn't go exceptionally well, I would hope Macha would re-arrange the rotation to skip a couple of Yo's starts.

Bosio was interviewed pre-game and asked to comment on Gallardo's pitch count. He said, "Ideally we would like Yo to go 7 innings on 90 pitches." I assumed that meant that they were limiting Yo to 90 pitches, but apparently that's not the case.

I doubt anyone here wants to know (unless Jimbo takes a look at the IGT tonight), but UW volleyball swept South Dakota tonight. I see that my absence from monitoring this game hasn't hurt the Brewers...so far.

Chat's open (not that I have to be there for something to happen)...

Holy crap. Guess who has a .827 OPS for August. Jason Kendall.
Heading into tonight's game, his batting average has improved by 11 points, too. Seems like a lot of those bloopers have been falling in lately, and he's been hitting the gaps for doubles a bit better.

No doubt that he's still one of the worst hitters in the league...while the recent production has been nice, it shouldn't be expected or relied upon. I'd still like to see Salome or Rivera get a nice chunk of playing time in September, but that's probably just a pipe dream.

Hey, a win! http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif Though I wish the media would stop focusing on the "home winning streak" over the Pirates.

The real test comes tomorrow - a semi-dreaded Sunday game. Still, I'm glad it won't be a 'rubber game.'
