Zach Braddock just came in to get the last out of the 8th, which he did on two pitches, both fastballs (94 & 93 mph).

EDIT: In comparison, Rogers was 90-92, touching 93, 94, & 95 once each. He was also using a high-70s curve.

EDIT 2: I didn't expect Braddock to come back out after the break. He pitched a scoreless 9th, allowing a single and a walk, both with two outs. He threw a couple sliders, but other than that used his fastball exclusively. He might have been tiring by the time he walked Carlos Rivera, his 5th hitter, as his control evidently wavered and the first three pitches of that plate appearance were all 90 mph.

Lorenzo Cain had another nice day at the plate, going 2-4 with two walks, two runs scored and a stolen base. You can't do much else as a leadoff man, and it doesn't hurt having the second overall pick from the 2009 draft, Dustin Ackley, hitting behind you.

Cain tore up the league last year, which of course got us all excited about him as a possibility to take over in CF for 2010. Don't tease us again Lorenzo...

Didn't injuries play a big role in his struggles this past season, though? I wonder if he's just finally feeling 100-ish% ... and then of course there's the small sample http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif

Javelinas win Saturday, 9-5.

Zach Braddock inherits two runners in the 9th, needing one out to secure the win. A line drive single allowed one run to score, before a groundout wraps things up.

Taylor Green has three singles and three walks in his first two AFL games, for a nifty OPS of 1.378, which is only 4th best on his team.

No Rob Wooten after four games...

Day off Sunday.

Thanks for linking that, kow. A few quips I liked:

"The season ended with a suprise call up to Milwaukee for 2 weeks which was a dream come true and will only make me work harder to get back there next year."

"So far Arizona has been a great time except that it really needs to stop being over 100 degrees, i mean it is the middle of October."

"The only other bad thing that ive experienced out here is getting a flat tire on my way to our second game. Rob [Wooten (his roommate)] and I ended up missing the bus and for that matter the game but luckily our coaches understood that things like that happen every now and then, so it was no big deal. But now i have four new tires just to make sure that doesnt happen again."

Zach Braddock inherits a 1st and 2nd nobody out jam and gives up a run scoring single to Ryan Kalish but then proceeds to strikeout one of the top prospects in baseball Mike Stanton. After missing with a first pitch slider, he throws three straight fastballs, the first two swinging strikes and the last a called strike to get the strikeout. He then hit Chris Parmalee with a pitch before getting Matt Dominguez and Steve Singleton to popout to end the inning.

In Thursday's start, Josh Butler will match up against none other than Stephen Strasburg. It was down to 76 degrees today, Josh.

Wow, 25 of Zach Braddock's 32 pitches were strikes today.

Although he was only 1-for-5 today, Taylor Green has the AFL's second longest current hit steak, ten games, dating back to last season.

For everyone's sake, the first person to point out each day's game, if you could please paste in the box score link, thanks!

Tuesday's 14-10 victory
