BK has now racked up 158 SOs on the season. Only 1 player in the league has more, Kyle Russell (161) but Kyle sports a .919 OPS. In addition to Kyles SOs, he's hit 34 doubles, 6 triples, 61 walks, and 25 HRs... Rob Deer who? He is 22 years old, but I'd take that kind of power for my team any day. Unfortunately Brock is only sporting a .768 OPS.

In fact, Brock has the most strike outs in the entire organization, the next closest player is Katin with 154, Koshansky is also right there with 151.

Interestingly enough, Gamel has K'd 117 times this season, more than Brewer, I didn't realize Matt had struck out 121 times last season, somehow I had missed it. His K's have gone up drastically the last 2 seasons. He had 81 SOs at WV and 98 when he was in BC. I'm actually shocked that I missed how many times he whiffed in AA, I never considered him a strike out guy.

Wisconsin Site Game Summary

THAT STINGS; BEES STRIKEOUT 15 RATTLERS IN 5-1 WIN

By Chris Mehring

BURLINGTON, IA - Shawn Griffin drove in four runs and Tim Melville struck out eight as the Burlington Bees dealt a serious blow to any playoff pretensions harbored by the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers. Wisconsin entered the five-game series with the Bees trailing Burlington by three games for the Second Half Western Division Wild Card. But, the 5-1 loss at Community Field drops the Rattlers four games back with 14 games remaining in the season.

Josh Prince hit the first pitch from Melville of the top of the fourth inning over the wall in left for his first professional homer. That gave Wisconsin (57-69 overall, 23-33 second half) a 1-0 lead. But, the right-handed starter for Burlington would not give up another run. Melville tossed six innings, walked one, allowed four hits and matched his career high for strikeouts.

In the bottom of the fourth, an error and a walk put two Burlington runners on base against Rattlers starter Cody Scarpetta. Scarpetta got the first out with a strikeout, but Shawn Griffin hit a three-run homer to right on a 1-0 pitch and the Bees (56-70, 27-29) led 3-1.

Dusty Odenbach kept the Rattlers off the board with four strikeouts over two innings of relief. Then, the Bees offense added a couple of insurance runs.

Rattlers relief pitcher Corey Frerichs loaded the bases with a pair of singles and a walk in the bottom of the eighth. He got the first out, but walked Griffin to force in a run. Reliever Rigoberto Almonte entered the game and gave up an RBI grounder to Jose Bonilla before getting the final out of the inning.

Blaine Hardy continued the strikeout display by striking out the side in order in the top of the ninth inning.

On Tuesday, the Timber Rattlers and Bees will conclude a game that was suspended on July 7. The score of that game is 1-1 and the Rattlers have a runner at first with no outs in the top of the sixth. That game will be restarted at 5:00 PM.

The regularly scheduled game is set for nine innings and will start 30 minutes after the conclusion of the suspended game. R.J. Seidel (1-2, 6.57) is the scheduled starter for the Rattlers. Mike Lehmann (4-5, 5.71) is set to go for the Bees.

Wisconsin Box Score

Cody Scarpetta turns 21 years old on Tuesday (the 25th) -- has it been a successful campaighn for him? Yeah, you'd have to say so, the walks can be annoying, but the walks per inning (53 in 101 IP) isn't quite as bad as you'd think...

Huntsville Site Game Summary:

Stars Use Power to Push Past Montgomery

HUNTSVILLE ENDS TWO LOSING STREAKS WITH FIRST WIN IN SERIES

By Brett Pollock

Josh Butler battled through six innings and Jonathan Lucroy hit the tie-breaking home run to push Huntsville past Montgomery 6-4 Monday night in the middle of a five-game set at Joe Davis Stadium. The Stars stopped a three-game slide to raise their second half mark to 22-35, while the Biscuits fell to 27-30 in the second half and 60-67 overall. The Stars snapped a six-game skid to Montgomery and beat the Biscuits for only a second time in eight tries.

The visitors scored in the first inning on a run-producing hit by Jose Lobaton and a throwing error on shortstop Yohannis Perez in an attempt to turn an inning-ending double play. Butler struck out Fernando Cortez with two runners on to end the second inning, got Matt Fields to bounce into an inning-ending double play with two runners on in the third and induced Jason Perry to ground into a twin-killing in the sixth to navigate his way through that frame.

Butler was charged with one earned run on seven hits, while fanning three and walking three. He picked up the win to improve to 2-1 and was followed by Mike McClendon, who tossed a perfect seventh inning and Zach Braddock, who worked a scoreless eighth inning. Rob Wooten retired the first two hitters in the ninth before a walk and a hit and defensive indifference put runners at second and third. Cortez singled in Jason Bowers and Rashad Eldridge to cut the Stars lead to 6-4 before Chris Nowak flied out to end the game.

Montgomery starter Rayner Oliveros retired the first seven hitters he faced before Perez hit an opposite field home run to right-center field to get the home team on the board. It was his third of the year and first since June 3. The Stars tied the game in the fourth on a two-out double by Taylor Green that plated Shane Justis, who had been hit by a pitch to start the inning.

Drew Anderson doubled with two out in the sixth and scored when Lucroy followed with his ninth long ball of the season to give the Stars a 4-2 edge. Oliveros suffered the loss after conceding four runs on five hits over six innings. Heath Rollins took over in the seventh and yielded a two-run home run to J.R. Hopf, his third of the season and first since July 5, that pushed the home side's lead to 6-2. The Stars hit three home runs in a game for a third time this season.

The series continues Tuesday night with Stars' right-hander Brandon Kintzler making the start against Biscuits' southpaw Brandon Mann. Coverage of the game begins at 6:45 PM central time and can be heard through the internet at www.huntsvillestars.com.

Huntsville Box Score

I parlayed bets on Yohannis Perez and J.R. Hopf going deep tonight, so I can retire now; no errors in seven games at second base in Huntsville for Brett Lawrie, and so far, so good (.320) at the plate -- anybody else starting to think 2010 is going to be an absolute monster year for Brett? RHP Josh Butler has made at least three starts at four different levels of the system this season -- by the way, he's pretty solid, 12 ground ball outs here; a shaky 9th, but hey, it wasn't a save situation and Rob Wooten stopped the bleeding; LHP Zach Braddock on the mound in any way, shape, or form is a good thing -- he tuned 22 last Sunday...

Nashville Pre-Game Audio Chat with infielder Erick Almonte

Final: Nashville 11, Albuquerque (Dodgers) 5

Nashville Site Game Summary:

Link for Corey Patterson photo, text follows --

Sounds Top Isotopes, 11-5

ALBUQUERQUE - The Nashville Sounds topped the Albuquerque Isotopes, 11-5, on Monday night at Isotopes Park in Albuquerque. Sounds outfielder Corey Patterson went 3-for-5 with a home run, double, and three RBIs. Adam Heether added two hits, including a double and three RBIs in the win.

Not committing an error for a season-high seven games, Nashville improves to 67-63, but still trails Memphis by 2 ½ games after a Redbird win.

The Isotopes took an early 1-0 lead in the bottom of the second inning on an RBI single by Albuquerque first baseman J.D. Closser.

The Sounds answered with four runs in the next frame, highlighted by a bases-loaded two-run double by Patterson, followed by a two-run single by shortstop J.J Hardy that made it 4-1.

Albuquerque trimmed the lead to 4-2 on a bases-loaded walk by Sounds starter Chris Cody, who hit another two batters to fill the bases. After the run-scoring walk, Cody surrendered infield pop outs to Jamie Hoffman and Dee Brown that ended the charge. The Isotopes knocked home another two runs on four singles off Cody in the bottom of the fourth inning that tied the game at four.

Nashville loaded the bases in the next inning after singles by Adam Stern and Hardy, followed by an Erick Almonte walk. Heether then delivered a one-out line drive single to left field that brought home Stern and Hardy. Second baseman Johnny Raburn added a sacrifice fly that scored Almonte to extend the Sounds lead to 7-4.

The Sounds tacked one another three runs in the seventh inning on RBI doubles by Heether and catcher Patrick Arlis. Patterson added to the Nashville lead with a solo home run in the eighth inning, his third home run of the season.

AUDIO: Patrick Arlis RBI Double

Cody (7-7) earned the win, allowing four runs on seven hits with two strikeouts in five innings of work. Matt Ginter added two scoreless innings in relief.

Eric Stults (5-3) took the loss, allowing seven runs (six earned) on nine hits over five innings. Henry Bonilla gave up three runs in two innings of work in relief.

Nashville outfielder Tike Redman singled in the fifth inning in his Sounds debut.

The Sounds and Isotopes play the finale of the four game series at 7:35 PM CT on Tuesday night at Isotopes Park in Albuquerque. Right-hander Mike Jones (0-1, 13.50) takes the mound for Nashville against Isotopes righty and former Brewer farmhand Giancarlo Alvarado (11-9, 3.68).

Nashville Box Score

Seven position players combined for 14 base hits, Corey Patterson a triple shy of the cycle, veteran Johnny Raburn a 3-for-4 night plus a sacrifice fly as he's benefiting from regular AAA at-bats; after this road trip, a four-game home series with Memphis looms large...

Final: Arizona Brewers 5, Arizona Athletics 1

Arizona Box Score

Just-turned 20-year-old RHP Travis Nevakshonoff, a 29th round pick in 2007 out of Canada, is rewarded for his long rehab work with a 1-2-3 three groundball debut inning; LHP's Casey Baron (rehab from Huntsville) and Del Howell, RHP's Seth Lintz and Caleb Thielbar followed, all successfully; Brewers 5-for-8 on busy basepaths; once again we'll note that with some prospects having toiled at the DSL level and the front office having gone fairly light in terms of roster depth in sheer numbers, those position players who are in Helena and Maryvale can't complain about their number of at-bats....
