They DFA'd Corporan too.

Hmm, seems that'd increase the likelihood of Salome here next year?
That's what I was thinking. If anything, it might give Angel a better chance of seeing some PT this September, too. There's only 3 catchers on the 40-man now, and he's the only one not in Milwaukee.

I can't figure why some on this site think Corporan should be the young catcher to make next year's team should Kendall or Rivera not be returning.

Unless they figure Salome has to be playing everyday in AAA next year, there's no reason Corporan should ever leapfrog Salome onto the Brewers' active roster for the long term. Corporan's hitting .171 in AAA, which is only 118 points lower than Angel.

Yeah, I didn't get that line of thinking either, unless it was a service time issue which I am admittedly generally ignorant about.

I wouldn't mind seeing Rivera and Salome split starts next year, and like crewcrazy said, at the least there's a better chance we see Salome in Milwaukee next month.

If Salome isn't ready for MLB, what do you do? Bump up Lucroy from AA to MLB? I've stated before I thought Carlos would be a nice one-year option to split time with Rivera or another veteran. I think this move means the Brewers are going to have Salome up in the bigs next year or...Kendall will be back. It could be good news...or bad news. Carlos isn't a bad catcher...he's actually pretty solid.
