Nationals Offer $1 Tickets vs Crew Friday

PrimeTime955

From the Nationals website:

To celebrate the signing of the No. 1 choice, the Nationals are offering tickets for just $1 for Friday's game vs. the Milwaukee Brewers. Tickets can be purchased online at www.nationals.com/one beginning at noon ET today.
Basically the Nationals are having a huge party to celebrate the signing of Stephen Strasburg and are trying to pack the stadium. Apparently they need to sell tickets for a dollar to do so.

Right-hander Stephen Strasburg, the Nationals' No. 1 pick in the 2009 First-Year Player Draft, will be introduced at a press conference at 2 p.m. ET on Friday, and everyone with a ticket to that night's game is invited to come watch and, even better, participate.

The event will be held inside Nationals Park and is open to all ticket holders for Friday's game. The center-field gates will open at 1:30 p.m. and ticket holders will be able to enjoy the event from Field Level seating areas along the third-base line near the visitor's dugout.

Following the press conference, Nationals team officials will participate in a 30-minute question-and-answer session with those in attendance. The seating area will then remain open for Nationals batting practice, giving fans a closer vantage point than usual.

Tickets are limited to two per transaction and are located in the following seating areas: LF/RF Corner, LF Box and LF/RF Mezzanine. Season parking lots and garages will open at their regularly scheduled time of 5:30 p.m.

If they really want to pack the park they'd start Strasburg
The way the Brewers are playing right now and their track record against rookies or guys making their MLB debut, Strasburg would probably throw a complete-game, 15-strikeout game, only giving up a deep solo shot to Prince Fielder. It'd probably only take him about 90 pitches to get through the game too.

That freebie game at the end of the 2005 season was a lot of fun. Gary Glover shuts out the Reds

Those (few) of us who had purchased tickets for that game before the freebie deal was announced got a voucher for a free game the following April. For that game we had terrific (and free) seats in section 112; the Brewers won that game as well, and our section was drawn to win Palermo's pizza coupons. Truly, the game that kept on giving.

I miss those days, in a way...every Glover start led to posts about G-Love and Special Sauce. Kind of like when we used to post photos of okra when Tomo Ohka started. Tear.

Getting back closer to topic, the announced crowd in Washington tonight was 26,307.

Remember: the Brewers never panic like you do.
