Kevin James signs with Tampa!

The RayThe Rays confirmed the signings of four high draft picks: No. 3 OF Todd Glaesmann, No. 4 C Luke Bailey, No. 5 1B Jeff Malm and No. 9 LHP Kevin James.

According to Baseball America, they spent freely in doing so, giving Glaesmann $930,000, which would be the third-highest bonus in the third round and more than three times the MLB recommendation for that slot (108th overall).

They also paid over-slot bonuses, according to BA, to Bailey ($750,000, second highest in his round and nearly four times the recommendation) and James ($625,000, highest in his round) and are thought to have done so with Malm, who had a college offer from USC.

I heard the Brewers were going to draft him with their next pick but unfortunately they decided on another lefty before they went for the local kid. Time will tell on that but hopefully both perform great!
