Chad Tracy

I just looked on the ESPN insider and it mentioned Chad Tracy has been put on the trade block by the D-Backs. It looked like the Angels were going to deal for him, but pulled out. The Angels did not want to deal pitcher Joe Saunders. Would the Brewers be able to swing a deal. He is only 26 years old and can play third and first and I think he only made $381,000 last year. In 2005 he hit 27hr's. and 72 RBI's and had a avg. of 308. In 2006 he hit 281 avg. 20hr's and 80 RBI's I would like to see Melvin make them a offer. This is what I would do.

D-Backs get:

Tony Graff. or Koskie

Matt Wise

OR

Villenueva ( Straight up)

Brewers :

Chad Tracy

The way I looked at it we really do not have a clear cut third baseman. Koskie has shown to be injury prone. Cirillo has not resigned yet and is getting older by the day, although I love the guy he could just walk imo. Braun I think will be a studd but probably in the outfield not at third. And last, Tony G. may be traded by the end of the winter meetings or by the all star break if the right deal comes along. To me Tracy is a clone of Overbay but with just a bit more power and can play third. Would we have traded Overbay if he could have played third? I think not.

the Brewers seem to have no interest in playing Braun at third, and it doesn't seem to be long before he'll be up. Even if Braun isn't there, it would make more sense to play Hall at third and put one of our many extra outfielders in his place.

Of course Koskie's only going to be with us for a half-season just like Graffy.

Tracy did play 53 games in the OF last year. He just missed an .800 OPS in a down year for him(although thats hitting in a hitters park. I would be all for trading for him if we didnt have to give up too much. I think as has been said, theyd be looking for at least Bush, and Im not sure I want to pay that.

I've been a fan of CTracy for years and while you are not buying at a low, low price he does do things really well. He also can play 1st and OF.

Cot's has his new contract online already and it is manageable...but I have not looked at his vs. LHP splits in a while...

He is an asset but at what cost?
