I've met Tom before. Super friendly guy.

Not to make light of the injuries suffered by the Mayor, but....it's 2009, who still uses a pipe for this sort of thing?

Were there no knives or guns available?

...did he usually carry a pipe with him, or did he borrow it from Col. Mustard after a meeting in the Conservatory?

The family also feels if it had been anybody but Mayor Barrett that stepped in, Anthony would not have been arrested.

Yeah because when somebody gets put in the hospital they usually don't arrest anybody.

Fan is short for fanatic.

I blame Wang.

The family of the person that attacked Barret pretty much called it Barrets fault that he got attacked.

Not to elaborate too much, but seems like a fairly typical attitude of some in the Milwaukee area.

You are really overgeneralizing, Invader. You may want to delete that before the whole thread goes down hill.

Yeah if only he didn't smoke all of that meth earlier, there is no way he would beat a random person with a lead pipe while trying to break into a house.

We all get mad at one point or another but I will assume that most of us have never beaten a stranger with a lead pipe. This is just ridiculous to claim it is anyone elses fault but the assailant. Why wasn't he allowed to see his kid in the first place? Did it have something to do with his record? I am not saying the kid was high but come on, you cannot beat random people with a pipe and expect to get away with it.

"He's not violent like that. He's young, he's still a boy, and he doesn't know how to handle situations," the brother said.

Yep, beating someone with a pipe isn't violent. OK then. Last I checked 20 years old made you an adult, too.

most people also lose boyhood status when they decide to make babies. if not they better grow up quickly

I think some on this thread will be surprised when they see the guy that did this.

I could care less what the guy "looks like". I'm galled by the lack of accountability that his family is taking for this by placing blame on the victim. This is way too common in our society today.

Now they are making the "he was off his medication" excuse. Probably trying to drum up a lawsuit or something. Disgusting.

Maybe not just Milwaukee...many inner cities, I suppose.
You are still generalizing. The point is, this happened not in the "ghetto", random violence is everywhere, the fallacy of a safe suburb is alive and strong. But if you want to say that violent crime rates are increased in the inner cities, then yes. But just saying this kind of Violent crime only exists in the inner city is simply silly.
