Usually I wouldn't be worried about saying this against the Padres, but Looper is on the mound -- please keep the ball in the park, Brewer pitching. Hopefully Richard won't be so hard to solve, but he's been very good since going over to San Diego.

Play out the string, boys. Keep your heads held high and handle your business. You can't control anything anyone else does, but if you don't handle yours, any opportunities afforded you are moot. As hawing would say, go 1-0 for August 11, 2009, Brewers!

The Brewers already saw him in June when he was still a White Sock. I admit, I was surprised to see it was the game they won (Suppan! Really!).

Yeah, 1-0 for the night. I guess I would say that. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif

Remember: the Brewers never panic like you do.

For those wondering, the NL record for home runs allowed by a single pitcher in a season is 48 (Jose Lima). MLB record is 50 (Bert Blyleven). Looper has 29 as of this post...if nothing else, it should be interesting to see how close he can get to Lima.

It's gonna be hard for Looper to catch Lima at this point, although I do believe if there is anyone who could do it, it would be Loup. For a bit of perspective, Looper has given up 1.91 HR/9 this year, Lima gave up 2.20! However, I wonder what happens when you adjust for era...

In a way I wish they were still on the west coast so I could say something sour like "I'm going to bed". But it's too early...I don't know what else to do.

Looper looked horrendous pretty much all night, not sure what Macha expected from him in the 6th.

Macha is simply terrible at managing the pitchers. He's always spouting nonsense about having to "save the bullpen." Yes, we know that you can't use the pen every night, but you can use it when the SP looks terrible and its still a close game after five innings.

I would argue that part of the reason the bullpen has been struggling lately is because Macha's always setting them up to fail.
