Best Signature Burger

Web Jim Edmonds

What is your favorite signature burger? There are quite a few them that I think are in the running. Here are a few:

1. Wendy's Classic Single

2. 5 Guys Double Cheese

3. White Castle mini burger

4. Jack-N-The-Box Grilled Sourdough burger

5. Red Robins 5 Alarm Chilli burger

6. Steak&Shake Steak Burger

7. Fudruckers Double Cheese Burger

8. In&Outs 3x3 Jungle Burger

9. Bic Mac

10. Double Whopper W/Cheese

11. Sonic Bacon Double Cheese Burger

12. Quarter Pounder W/Cheese

13. Fat Burger

14. Rally Burger

15. Hardees Steak and Cheese Burger

So we're talking about best signature burger, not the burger that puts them all to shame that only you and 10 other people know exist. Discuss.

And I've never heard of Culvers. Must not be a St. Louis chain. A "Butter" burger sounds interesting though.

It's origins are in Wisconsin, but it's been steadily expanding throughout and beyond the midwest. The only ones I know of in the area are in South County.

Why did you go and have to mention Culvers? The butter burger is probably my fav on that list. I wish they had one out here in Cali. I say this with an In and Out burger 10 minutes away.

the only problem i have with culvers is that their fries suck. I'd take an In and Out burger anyday. I also used to love white castle, however, I don't know if they have a signature burger, and their pretty small anyway. I tend to just stick to the dollar menu because fast food combos are way too expensive when you figure for a buck or so more you can go to a fuddruckers or sobelmans and get a great burger. That said, I had the Angry Whopper at an airport once, and that was pretty great.

Has anyone ever combined dollar menu items? I've done the Wendy's Columbus Burger (kinda an inside thing, my friends and I do this on Columbus day), Jr Bacon Cheeseburger on top, middle is the crispy chicken, and the bottom is the double stack, all using one bun (your choice which sandwich it comes from). If your inclined, put fries on there too. Awesome.

One time i stacked three mcdonalds double cheeseburgers on one bun, that was a bit too much.

Yeah, but who goes to Culvers for the fries? If you're already heading down the road of adding 3 pounds in one meal, why not throw on the onion rings or, even better, the fried cheese curds? Sorry, off the topic, I know.

That's true, but I always like places that provide at least decent fries to go with the burger. Culvers fries are alright I guess. I only go to McD's maybe twice a year or so, but their fries are terrible. I think they've gotten worse and worse over time. I'm not a huge fast food burger person, but when I do I go to Burger King much more than McD's. I do agree with craig that you're not going for the fries, but I can't stand the places that really make no attempt to have decent fries. McD's is one of them and McDougal's is another. I know potatoes are cheap, but a little effort would be nice.

I agree with McD's fries being really bad, and getting worse over time. They just used to be really salty, but now with all the health concerns, they just reduce the amount you get.

I think Culver's fries are pretty decent, but I know people that actually DO go there JUST for the fries.

I agree BK has some of the best fries, but then again, I'm more of a curly fries/cheese curds kinda guy http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif

McD's has the most popular fries in the world. I think this may be an issue of you simply having different tastes than most.
I think this has more to do with the number of franchises than anything. Everything at McDonalds is terrible IMO, but their fries are probably the worst thing they have.

Culver's fries are serviceable. The fact that you can get cheese curds pretty much is a guaranteed winner in my book. In and Out fries suck. You have to get them animal style to get them down. I know much is made about the fact they take a potato and slice it there and its fresh and natural and pretty much everything else I dislike about California. Straight up I would take McD fries every time. That should say something.

Bacon butterburger deluxe with cheese curds. I can't get home soon enough.

If McD's fries are bad, what fast food chain has good fries? I'd take McD's over any other chain in the fry department.

When you get the McD fries that they don't salt "properly", you realize they aren't that great in my opinion.

They changed the fat they fry them in twice. They moved from beef fat to vegetable oil in the 90s, but were sued maybe 5+ years ago, because the vegetable oil still had beef elements in it for flavor. Since then they've changed again. That probably changes the flavor for a lot of people.

With these choices, I'd probably throw in for Culver's as well, and I always go the cheese curd route there. I can't even think what their fries are like at the moment.
