AVENTURA, Fla. -- Troubled pitcher Scott Olsen of the Florida Marlins was arrested early Saturday after refusing to pull over and getting into a fight with police officers.

Olsen was booked into the Miami-Dade county jail on charges of driving under the influence, resisting an officer with violence and fleeing and eluding a police officer. He was released Saturday afternoon on $11,000 bond.

It was the latest in a string of problems for the 23-year-old left-hander, who returned to the Marlins on Friday night following a two-game suspension without pay after a confrontation with teammate and fellow pitcher Sergio Mitre. Olsen got the win in a 10-2 victory over the Cincinnati Reds.

First he gets in a fight with his team mates and now this? Thoughts?

Marlins' Olsen released after charges of DUI, resisting officer

Dontrelle following him home, but not being accosted. The abrasions on his face. Is he trying to angle for a trip to St. Louis in an attempt to be this year's Jeff Weaver (which I could seriously see happening)? The funniest part about the article is how the title will probably be the same within a week...

Foreshadowing, or just simply too lazy to think up another clever headline like that one.

Complete with pictures!

So apparently he was also stun-gunned. No word yet on whether Sergio Mitre has applied for a concealed weapon permit to carry a stun gun now in Florida. Is there something in the water? Ponce de Leon went looking for the Fountain of Youth. Well it would seem the baseball players from that state won't ever grow up. But Olsen isn't even the oddest character. You have the next Pudge, the next Rae Carruth, and a would-be David, the Rock Slinger in Search of Goliath, if the young ROY hopeful didn't escape the clutches of Jeb's state.

Guy sounds like a real toolbox.

hmmm, let's see. A bunch of young athletes + South Beach and other related clubs/bars/restaurants within easy striking distance + a lot of down time = Dontrelle arrested last year, Olsen arrested, etc. etc.

Gee, I wonder what the problem is.

No wonder there is still no pro team in Vegas yet. Every player on a team would be arrested within a month or two.

As is the case with Dontrelle Willis, Josh Hancock and Tony LaRussa, driving drunk is one of the most unexcusable things a person can do. I would hope that eventually legislation develops a harsher stance on the idiots who do this nonsense.
