Hey, Jesus Colome managed to get his ERA under 8 in his first appearance. Good start for him already. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif Hopefully there's some 9th inning magic for the offense.

Ok, so I'm not gonna ban myself, but I still take the blame for this loss :P

Seriously, though, major bummer we couldn't win the first one of the series to build momentum. Not an easy task, I guess, when Villy's on the mound.

Hard to win when Jason Michaels drives in 4 runs for the other guys. It wasn't a bad start for Villanueva, but my expectations for him in the rotation continue to be lower than the ones I had for Burns. Hopefully Manny and Yo can get the Crew wins in the final two games.

And I still strongly dislike Jose Valverde, for what it's worth. At least he didn't prance around too much like an idiot after the save. I always get a kick out of Uecker (and JP when he was still here) poking fun at him.

Sad thing when a team scores 6 runs and you think, "Man, we coulda got 'em tonight!" Of course, 3 runs rarely does the job either.

And yeah, Valverde is right next to Coco in terms of the demonstrative guys I hate to see the Brewers give up a save to. Makes you appreciate Trevor.

Rock and BA sure made it seem as if Counsell was out at home by about 10 feet. Obviously, the ball beat him but in my opinion it almost looked as if Counsell got under the tag. I was kinda suprised Counsell didn't make the argument. Just goes to show that if the ball beats you your going to be called out no matter what. Even if the umpires will disagree all day about that thinking. Just seeing if anyone else thought he might of gotten under the tag.

I couldn't agree more crivitz. MLB might as well just make it a force play at home, since the only thing that matters is if the ball beats the runner. I only had to re watch that play once to see he was clearly safe. I don't even thing Bill and Brian looked at the replay. Counsell probably didn't argue because he knows the drill....if the ball beats you there, you are an automatic out.

I got the impression Rock and BA weren't real thrilled with the send by Fischer.

It was clear that the ball beat him -- Pudge had the plate blocked nicely as well. It looked like to me that Pudge tagged Counsell on the leg and then in the chest. I thought Counsell was out.

Fielder didn't show any sort of emotion at all either after the call was made. I think both Counsell and Fielder knew he was out.

It was still poor baserunning in that spot.

I know I am splitting hairs, but Counsell was sent, I think he should have been held up though for sure.

That's two runs just in the past week blown calls have cost us. Unacceptable.

I am curious what other play you are referring to.

As I stated above, I dont think last night's call was "blown" -- and frankly Counsell probably should not have been sent. I blame our windmill than I blame blue.

I know fans of just about any team seem to dislike their third base coach, but it at least seems like Fischer has windmilled us into so many dumb outs at the plate this year. I don't recall any Brewer third base coach in recent years doing this nearly as much.

Joey, not sure what replay you saw but Counsell's foot clearly reached the plate before Rodriguez made the tag. The ump was not in position to make the call...which they rarely ever are inolving plays at the plate. Can't really blame this particular ump since for the most part they are all the same. Once they see the ball beat the runner and the catcher make contact with the player....they are an automatic out.

I think this is just a case of Joey disagreeing just to disagree.

First off, the tag didn't happen until at least his hip. Since Pudge wasn't reaching, that means he was safe. However, that's sort of the phantom tag. The real issue was Fischer sending him. I agree with Stevo that I think we've had more thrown out in frustrating outs this year than recent memory
