I used to love Jim Powell's comments after somebody would struggle with the anthem, especially if it was somebody who thought they were really good and tried to personalize the song a bit.

"I hope she's feeling better soon" would be my favorite.

nice win! No, really!

As for the kid, yes, I immediately thought of Borat when I saw that shirt. And then, as a music teacher, his singing was atrocious. He was trying to sing in his low voice on purpose, as if he was just imitating some adult or an album he had memorized. And then he just butchered the final note.

If you're going to go for the big ending to "God Bless America" (i.e. going for the high-note ending rather than just going down to the lower notes) in public, you gosh darn better nail it. He didn't. And the only people not laughing were likely his parents.

I don't think you need to be a music teacher to realize that he sucked. I readily admitted that I suck at singing and did so to my choir teacher in middle school (which was required, either that or band.), but I don't think I sucked as bad as that kid. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif

Do they audition these people or something? Do they choke when they get in front of a huge group of people?

I also hate it when people try to add on to the song with their extra ahh's and oooh's. Sing it how it was meant to be sung. I don't want to hear your special, always crappy versions of the song.

So I come back home from the game and the entire IGT is on the kid who sang the anthem...you guys crack me up. I will say that my group was all full of Dads and we all looked at each other then one simply says, "well that was uncomfortable".

Aside from that...sure nice to get a series win especially after last night. We definetly have a new villian in town and it's Prince. They were really letting him have it. I'm ordering a jersey tomorrow.

Your turn Houston Brewers fans...let's keep it going.

Serious question: does sound not carry that well at Dodger Stadium? It's got that open air, scalloped-design, and it's in a ravine. I only ask because Scully also mentioned they were giving it to Prince, badly, but it didn't sound all that deafening or imposing on the telecast (LA feed).

Anyway, yeah, I'll take the series win for the first time in an age. This was big to that strand of hope.

Glad to rock the Tropical Tuesday jersey for 'ya. The Reverend texted me and asked me to show the "3TO" sign, but, well, this is LA and they might think it's a gang sign and I'll get tossed three innings into the best seats I've ever had. They kind of yelled at people who waved and stuff where I was sitting. Lucky that the seats in front of me were empty almost the whole game.

Thanks for the props dlk9s... but I'm a little worried about a guy who posts 10 pictures of me in a thread, one with a heart-shaped circle around it. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif Wish it would have been the one where I was chewing the home plate ump's butt because Counsell was clearly safe.

I'll post pics this weekend from "Section Lah Dee Freakin' Dah" in another post. I forgot my real camera and only had my cell camera, but the pics are decent. Saw Mark A. in the tunnel afterwards; I said, "Thank you, Mark!" and he turned around and paused and looked at me with a smile, and I said, "Thank you!" again and he waved at me and walked into the Brewers clubhouse.

Oh, and Larry King was sitting 10 seats to my left.

So, cross LA off the list of places Prince could go when he hits free agency?

No reason to be worried. He only posted nine. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif

Only 4 games back now, and back to .500. The Crew showed some fire last night, and I hope they can keep playing like that. It would be nice to put a damper on whatever playoff hopes Houston may still have.

Really, playoffs or not, if the Brewers can just stay competitive the rest of the year and keep things interesting, I'll be really happy, given how miserable the middle portion of this season has been.

Yeah. Missing out on the playoffs is one thing; falling flat on one's face, then never being able to get fully back on one's feet is another, even more spirit-gutting thing. Stop the misery, and get ahead of Houston.
Remember: the Brewers never panic like you do.

The Lakers just signed the biggest LA villian on the planet in Ron Artest and everyone is fired up about it. The Dodgers fans even found a way to cheer for Jeff Kent the last couple years. The cheapness of their owner is a bigger issue.

Series - To answer your question, it does get loud in there. It's not Metrodome loud or Miller Park with the roof closed, but they get big crowds every night. Everyone was really on Fielder and it was loud. It got louder as the game went on. The funniest part was when they had the "kiss cam" going so everyone was watching the scoreboard between innings. Then it turns off and was replaced by a picture of Prince. They went from laughing/cheers to booing in a heartbeat...it was really funny. I listened to the postgame show and they were quite happy Prince had a rough night at the plate. I was also impressed that most fans stayed until the end of the game. Maybe it was waiting for a fight that everyone thought was coming, but with Manny around nobody wants to leave. Even a three run lead would have cleared the park a year ago.

LouisEly - Thanks to dlks I was able to pick you out in the crowd. I was down by the Brewers dugout after the game, but there is quite the barrier between the Field seats and section LaDeeDah so I couldn't say hi. I hope you had a great time, those were some sweet seats. You were sitting among quite the set of local Hollywood hitters.

I also liked the way the Brewers handled it last night. Prince running on Martin was classic. They couldn't afford to get Looper or a real reliever tossed and needed the win more than sending a message. These guys have long memories...it will happen at some point. BTW, Russell Martin is a shell of his former self and really fell off quick...a lot of speculation on that from my Dodgers friends.

EDIT: Added last paragraph

Kinda just adding on to what SoCal said...it's easy to forgive in LA. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
