Lollapalooza

Anybody going?

I got a 3 day pass and am pretty pumped. The weather report looks raining and hot, but it hopefully wont be too bad. The headliners aren't as good this year as the last either, but the middle acts are much stronger in my opinion.

I am planning to see Manchester Orchestra, Bon Iver, Ben Folds, Decemberists, Kings of Leon, Atmosphere, Ben Harper, Alberta Cross, RaRa Riot, Cage the Elephant, Vampire Weekend, Dan Auerbach, Snoop Dogg, and Jane's among others. Should be a fun weekend.

Not going to be able to make it, but if your into DJ's I see that Diplo is playing. Also, don't know if you are into Electronic/Dance music, but MSTRKRFT (pronounced masterkraft) is playing, and they are awesome. Super good beats, and I'm not that into that type of music.

If I could go, Animal Collective would be at the top of my list of bands to see there.

I've seen Manchester Orchestra before. I like them better live, so if you enjoy their albums I'm sure you'll really like them.

Oh, don't worry, if I know Perry, he'll pop up in at least half a dozen other setlists over the weekend. Last time Thievery were there he sang the collaboration from The Cosmic Game he did with them. Perry's a %$$# - he'll perform with everyone!

Looking forward to it hugely - I think it's a nicely balanced lineup. Pissed at missing the Beasties, but the new YYY album is decent, so we'll see! Brits White Lies and Friendly Fires will make a few new fans this weekend, I'm predicting. As for weather, the 109 degrees we got in 05 means I'm ready for anything!

I went the last three years and always had a blast. This year's lineup didn't do anything for me (then again last years lineup was INSANELY good so anything might seem like a let down after that.) I also felt that most of the bands on the lineup that I did want to see would be in Madison or Milwaukee sometime soon anyway. (The Heartless Bastards and the Decemberists just played in Madison this week and those were two of the big draws for me.)

I skipped this year but would consider going back again if they comeback with a lineup that is better then this years.

I don't remember what day they play but I would HIGHLY recommend checking out the Heartless Bastards.

I actually think this year's tops most of their others, if only for the inclusion of Tool.

I remember comparing the line-ups of the Pitchfork Festival and Lollapalooza this year back when they first were announced and thought that Pitchfork had the overwhelming edge. Probably due to the fact that they had Built to Spill and Yo La Tengo on their side (who I've yet to see) and I already caught most of my list of Lolla's must-see acts (Tool, TV on the Radio, Animal Collective) recently on their own tours.

Sad thing is, I won't make it to either. Damn the huddled masses, Chicago traffic, and my single-income household.
