I just found it foolish that the boys at the Bristol Co. thought it would have been better handled if Prince charged the mound because that's "part of the game".

It's like Kendall said...make your choice go to the mound or go to first base.

I just found it foolish that the boys at the Bristol Co. thought it would have been better handled if Prince charged the mound because that's "part of the game". I just don't understand(not that I want to in the first place) how it's better to attack a guy on the field in front of women and children rather than in the bowels of a stadium in front of a couple of overweight security guys. Though I find it exciting, I've never felt good about seeing two teams throwing punches at each other on the field.

Women and children? Really? When is the last time something that would offend women and children to a huge degree happen in a MLB game? We all know the routine...you charge the mound...benches and bullpens empty...and really nothing happens. I can only wish now that the 'charging the mound' would've happened. Going after a guy after the game in a clubhouse is a punk move. Sorry, but it is. It doesn't make Fielder or the Brewers look good. We can post 'points' all day about why it wasn't intentional to hit Manny (and I do believe that), but Prince's reaction is the entire reason why national networks are taking the story the way they are. Going after a guy after a game is uncommon and to be honest somewhat scary. We can rip on ESPN all day, but given Prince's national status now it's embarrassing. Do you think Pedroia is going after guys after games? Braun? Longoria? This kind of thing probably happens every 5 years or so and it makes Prince look bad. I don't blame him for being mad or anything, but the more I think about it he just made a very, very poor decision. I don't care who ordered it or whatever. Prince is supposedly a professional...it's time to act like it.

In one of the articles I read (Witrado's, maybe?), it mentioned that Fielder and Mota were pretty friendly as teammates last year. That makes me wonder if Prince would have tried to hunt down the pitcher if it wasn't Mota. I highly doubt Fielder intended to beat him down or anything - I can't imagine him doing anything that crazy. I just wonder if, since it was Mota, he wanted to go down and yell at him a bit in a sort of, "What the hell? I thought we were buds?" sort of way, yet angrier than that sounds.

Unless Witrado changed his blog post, I believe the direct quote was "Fielder just smirked and went to first base, rather calmly." That seems fairly accurate to me.

HUH? That is not even close to what happened.

This was a primary tenet of my incredibly-well-thought-out theory as well, especially considering his initial reaction: incredulous laughter and looking at Mota while asking "What?!?"

Well, it's over now...until the playoffs.

I just heard the Witrado interview, what a tool. He lists the Manny Parra incident as Fielder being "immature." Fielder approached Parra last season because he was bailing on the team. The team was mired in a losing streak last season. He was frustrated about Parra's lack of attention to the team. Parra was trying to leave the game early, after he got shelled, and Fielder told him to stay and watch.

It seems very clear to what Witrado is trying to do here. He is taking advantage of being thrown into the spotlight by insulting Fielder publicly. When he was on ESPN, numerous times today, he basically said that Fielder needed to grow up. He made sure to include how "innapropriate" Fielder was in his language and conduct under the stadium. He is a bad writer and shows little professionalism while doing a bad job.

Last year I had an internship with WISN Channel 12 sports in Milwaukee. I was fortunate enough to go to a number of media events with the Brewers. I saw Witrado and couldn't believe how he handled himself. I have seen him, on numerous occasions, wear Fubu to press conferences. He carries a mentality that he is a huge deal because he writes from the JS covering the Brewers. I just have one question to Witrado. What does he expect out of Fielder? I would have been upset too.

I will be writing a blog post looking at everything Witrado did say. I am not trying to be a jerk to him, I just think that he handled this situation terribly. I think it is time for Witrado to go. He is a pessimistic writer that would attack anyone to better his career. I'll have the post up in the morning.

Of course the Dodgers have to protect Manny - he might be pregnant, and could lose the baby!

Seriously, this from an organization that promotes a player who tested positive for female fertility drugs. 'Nuff said.

I am hoping that there is a close play tonight with Fielder rounding third and Russell Martin as the catcher. Please! I have been good all year. Just give me this one thing! Fielder may kill the guy.

We were all hoping for that, but perhaps the only thing that could possibly have been more beautiful than that was Fielder stealing off of Martin. I laughed my butt off, and gave Martin the business (from the 3rd row right behind him) for the rest of the inning. "You just let a 280 lb. man steal off of you!!"

That was really funny. Cool to see you were at the game tonight, were you there last night.

I just wrote a blog post that looks at the Witrado situation. Witrado is a huge jerk and needs to go. He constantly makes condescending comments towards the fans and knows nothing about baseball. In my blog, I posted a full mailbag that he wrote last season. I think you guys will find it very interesting.

Witrado is just generally a jerk, not just in this instance or as it relates to the Brewers. He played on a couple of softball teams in the Wilson Park Power League the last couple of seasons (when he was actually in town) and was just an arrogant [expletive deleted] for the most part. I had limited interactions with him, but from watching several of the games, it was pretty clear.

Does anyone actually think he's even that good of a writer? You wonder how long the JS will even stick with the guy.

This is the video footage of the Mota pitch for casey and others that have not seen the footage of Fielder getting hit.....I am 100% certain Witrado was not at/watching the game when Fielder was hit....the guy is a hack of the worst order. The more Fielder is getting portrayed as the bad guy in this, the more upsetting this is to me - it's bull. Mota admitted he intentionally hit Fielder now as well according to the hacks most recent piece....

He seems to struggle with basic grammar and sentence structure on the blog, but so does TH. Tom attributes it to writing fast to get the info out, AW does not address posters (for the wiser I think). The fact that Witrado is a raging Dodger fan did not help Prince out at all. Hopefully Torre pays for this with some bad karma, Witrado gets tar and feathered in the Sausage Haus, and the Crew goes Major League and win the division to spite Rachel Phelps.

It will be interesting to see how the team reacts to bean balls over the rest of the season. Given the incidents with the Pirates this year, and the critical games with the Cardinals in September, things could be very interesting. It always seems like the key is to strike the first blow and avoid the ejections and suspensions that ensue. When the Cardinals come to town, we need to put Seth McClung on the mound so that he can nail Larussa when the lineup cards are exchanged.

. . . .and the Crew goes Major League and win the division to spite Rachel Phelps.
Who do we use as the standup mannequin with removable clothes?
Maybe Alice Wolterman? Or one of Torre's 3 daughters, depending on their ages I suppose.

This is a bizarre construction. I've been in plenty of press boxes: Have you seen the awful Hawaiian and golf shirts worn there? This group of mostly fat men even wear...shorts, and comfort-fitting jeans. Why is wearing Fubu substantially different? I've also seen Witrado on the job and he conducts himself...like every single young sports reporter I've ever seen. Callow, cocky, maybe a bit insecure. It IS heady to be in his position. He's not a great writer and I disagree often with his analyses, but saying "he's a jerk" and other ad hominem isn't a winning argument.

No suspension for either side...

Mildly surprised on Prince, very, very surprised on Mota. If MLB isn't going to take care of it, the players will. This is basically a message from Watson to go ahead and throw at the Dodgers next time they play...and they will.

We will probably never know, but I'm very curious what the two undisclosed fines are for Prince and Mota. Personally, I'm surprised and disappointed that no suspensions were issued to Mota and/or Torre. Although since neither of them were suspended, I'm not surprised at all that Fielder wasn't suspended

Without knowing the amount fined, it feels like the big 5th grader and the 1st grader that he picked on both had to stay after school and write the same amount of sentences on the chalkboard.

I have and still remain impressed with the Dodgers ability to win, but as far as being good sports and role models, they are flat out despicable.

I don't see it happening. Macha doesn't seem like the kind of guy that would let it happen. If they were going to throw at a Dodger they would have done it last night. Even after everything Ryan Braun said following the Pirates game, no one had his back. Not sure if it is the players on this team or the manager. I'd bet the manager though.

This is what I was thinking as well. The first look on Prince's face when Mota ran off the field looked more like disappointment than anything. It's like when you were a kid and did something wrong, and rather than yell at you, your dad gets that disappointed look that makes you feel even worse. Just yell at me!

If I had Braun's pee in my fridge I'd tell everybody.
