Somewhat. I believe in AAA it is lacking but with Hall there now who can play any of the spots in the OF and all of the IF spots I don't see why they did it but it may just be a move in case Gerut doesn't heat up a little bit with the bat.

No thanks. Patterson is a horrible player. This acquisition makes no sense unless we need a AAA CF for some reason(or if we are trying to make a trade to the Reds so Baker can play him more). He posted only one average or better wOBA season and that was in 2003. His defense is barely above average.

what bothers me is if that Paatterson going to play CF in Nashville where would that leave Jason Bourgeois who having a very good year at 3a.

I would imagine either 2B or LF...whichever spot Hall isn't playing that same day. Gamel's at 3rd, Escobar at short, Koshansky at 1st, Katin in right, Patterson center, Hall/Bourgeois LF/2B. I don't know where Heether would play then, though...

Patterson won't take any playing time away from Bourgeois. I imagine they'll both be in the outfield.

Two thoughts come to mind with this signing

 

1) Corey has to have the most impressive collection of compromising photos involving MLB GMs and personnel people.

 

2) His agent should be tasked to solving unemployment. If he can Patterson a job, he can get anyone a job.

I've been watching him all summer in Syracuse. Trust me, he has not improved. In fact, last game I saw him play he struck out on a pitch over his shoulders and I fondly recalled Sheets doing to that him over and over as a Cub.

Well, Jesus Colome has been awesome at AAA for us so far.

 

I have no problem with anyone on a minor league deal, and this is no different. Not like we have any other internal options that are particularly better if we decide to trade Cam anyway.
