Cubs Acquire John Grabow, Tom Gorzelanny?

3:22pm: Via Twitter, Kovacevic says Grabow and Gorzelanny to the Cubs is almost or "just about" done, while Chris De Luca of the Chicago Sun-Times says they closed the deal for Grabow. ESPNChicago's Jon Greenberg says the Cubs are "in the process of finalizing" the deal for Grabow. Heyman terms the deal for both hurlers as "very close."

Im very meh on this deal. Neither player really interests me, but if we dont give up anything of value, Im OK with it. If Gorz can come anywhere near to 2007, then great, but I wont hold my breath,

I was hoping Melvin would maybe inquire on Gorzelanny. I think he has a lot of potential to turn things around and be a solid starting pitcher yet.

I dont know if Id call it impressive, but certainly decent. Hart seems like he'll be a back of the rotation starter who can keep his team in the game for the most part. Ascanio can be dominant at times, with possible closer stuff, but hes been inconsistant. Harrison has put up decent numbers in A ball, but projects as a utility player. I wish that the Cubs had gotten Duke instead, but Im definitely relieved that Hendry didnt give up Jay Jackson, as was the early rumor during the day. I guess Gorzalanny will be an interesting experiment.

Great move for the Brewers. Fielder owns Grabow. Braun owns Gorzelanny.

 

On the other hand, Brewers have done little facing Hart.
