A's and Cards Talking

Recommended Posts

It would be Brett Wallace for Matt Holliday which would be overpaying by the Cardinals. The Cardinals trading Wallace would be like the Brewers trading Gamel for Holliday. Even though I think Holliday would be a great addition to the Brewers that would be way over paying for a half a year of Holliday especially when he is going to be signing with the Yankees next year. The Yankees will be without Damon and Matsui possibly next year that leaves a spot open for one more corner OF possibly two spots depending on what the Yankees do with Swisher.

If the Cardinals do trade Wallace for Holliday I will be happy because Wallace would help the Cardinals out in the next couple of years more so than Holliday. Wallace maybe the guy that could help Pujols out and would solve some of their offensive woes. This also doesn't really make sense for the Cardinals with Rasmus, Ankiel, and Ludwick already in the OF. Maybe Holliday replaces Ludwick or Ankiel in the OF but that also makes DeRosa a lot less valuable since he would only be able to play 3B or 2B then. That OF is crowded in St. Louis and it will only get more crowded with Holliday there.

surprisingly there is little talk of this in St. Louis. I think it would be a terrible move for the Cards. I think Wallace is going to be a stud and should be their starting 3B for a long time since next year none of the 3bs on their roster now will still be with the team. The Cards could really use a RF because Ankiel is terrible but I don't see them giving up their best minor league player at all. I could see them trading Bryan Anderson who is a solid catching prospect since they really don't need him and he might be ready.

That sucks, I think the Brewers should definitely stand pat at this point. Cardinals lineup just got much better, Cubs are starting to find their stroke. I honestly don't see us really having a chance against the Cardinals or Cubs in this division. Not to mention the surging Astros. Even with a Halladay/Lee I just don't see it this year.
