Yes! Here it is, a breakout through game of sorts for Mark Rogers. 4 shoutout innings, just 2 hits, no BB, 4 K. It would appear they're inching his pitch count up, or he was incredibly efficient.

Edit: Rogers comes out in the 5th and retires another batter before being replaced. Awesome.

They did up his pitch count. It is now at 70 and all I can say is that it is about time (He can finally get the opportunity to get settled into a game). I think that we are all finally going to see what Mark can really do.

Dillard Tosses One-Hitter In Twinbill Opener

MEMPHIS -- Sounds right-hander Tim Dillard tossed an eight-inning, one-hit shutout in Nashville's 1-0 victory over the Memphis Redbirds at AutoZone Park in the first game of a doubleheader on Wednesday evening.

Dillard (10-4), who faced the minimum 24 batters in his outing, allowed a first-inning Tyler Greene single then erased him on a double play grounder en route to retiring the final 22 Memphis batters in order.

Jason Bourgeois went 2-for-4 for Nashville and drove in the winning run with a single in the top of the eighth inning.

The teams are currently competing in the nightcap. Complete results will be posted at the conclusion of tonight's on-field action.

Nashville Box Score

I know I wasn't the only one that didn't know what the Brewers were doing with Tim Dillard to open the season when they returned him to the starting rotation, but slowly but surely he seems to be going deeper and deeper into ballgames, and may just be a candidate to chip in at the big-league level sooner rather than later. That isn't to say that I'm not still a little confused by the way they have handled him, but it's hard not to root for the sinkerballer, whose patience has got to be rewarded at some point. It's hard to say much else about this one, as Dillard even helped his own cause with a single as part of the team's rally in the top of the eighth.

Nashville Box Score

The Sounds did miss a seemingly much more ripe opportunity in the top of the seventh, but decided to wait to make things more interesting an inning later. Just an impressive game for Dillard, who faced the minimum in his eight innings of work. Memphis' starter Blake Hawksworth also pitched well, as both teams faced the minimum through six innings. No surprise this game last only 1:43 (with only one person in the crowd -- see Mass, it's not just the Arizona League).

Final: St. Lucie 1, Brevard County 2

Brevard County Box Score

Another solid pitching performance by both teams, as each club only managed to record five hits. The 'Tees did walk five times, while the pitching staff did not issue a single free pass. Caleb Gindl hits his 12th double on the year, and is currently sixth in the FSL in OPS. Mark Rogers as noted above puts together an impressive performance as he continues to build arm strength. Brevard County is the one affiliate we continue to struggle to find followers, as it would sure be nice to know how well this young man threw tonight outside of using our own imaginations through the box score. Mark Willinsky does a fine job in relief as well, as the Mets' only run came on a solo shot by 2008 first-round pick Reese Havens off of Jim Henderson in the ninth.

Brevard County Game Log

Similar to game one between Nashville and Memphis, this game seemed to be played fairly quickly and cleanly. The Manatees did have their fair share of runners scattered throughout the game.

Southpaw Slows Down Mudcats in Stars Win

By Brett Pollock / Huntsville Stars

Sam Narron spun 7 2/3 impressive innings and Huntsville hit two home runs in a 6-1 win over Carolina Wednesday night in the second of a five-game set at Joe Davis Stadium that was delayed by 15 minutes at the outset due to rain. The Stars improved to 12-15 in the second half and 50-46 overall, while the Mudcats dipped to 10-17 in the second half and 47-49 overall. The Stars won for the first time in six home games in July and for the first time on home soil since June 26.

Lorenzo Cain, who had just two singles in his first 20 at-bats and is coming back from a hamstring and left knee injury, slammed a fly ball off the wall in center field that trickled away from Sean Henry, who slammed into the wall trying to make the catch, and was retrieved by Carson Keiner, the right fielder. Cain circled the bases and scored ahead of the relay throw for an inside-the-park home run that put the Stars in the lead 1-0 with one out in the third inning. Taylor Green doubled in a run with two outs in the inning to make it 2-0 before Jonathan Lucroy was thrown out at the plate trying to score to end the frame.

Drew Anderson, who had his second four-hit game of the season, tucked a home run just inside the right field foul pole with two outs in the fifth to extend the Stars' lead to 3-0. The Stars pushed the margin to 4-0 in the sixth on a two-out, run-scoring hit by Michael Garciaparra that preceded a Narron single that knocked starter Matthew Klinker out of the game. The Mudcats' hurler suffered his second straight loss after being charged with four runs on eight hits, while walking three and fanning three.

The Stars added two runs in the seventh against Ramon Geronimo on a Green ground ball out and a Vinny Rottino single that could have been a grand slam but was pushed back by a gusting wind blowing in from left field. The Mudcats pushed across their only run in the eighth on a two-out single by Jose Castro that plated Carson Kainer and knocked Narron out of the game. The left-hander allowed five hits, all singles, struck out seven and did not walk a batter to earn his first win in two starts with the Stars. Mike McClendon retired all four batters he faced to close out the victory.

The series continues Thursday night with right-hander Donovan Hand taking the hill for the Stars against Mudcats' southpaw Tom Cochran. Coverage of the game begins at 6:45 pm central time and can be heard through the internet at www.huntsvillestars.com.

Huntsville Box Score

Tim Dillard, Mark Rogers and then Sam Narron with strong outings for the Brewers' farmhands. Drew Anderson responds after his own feature with a four-hit game, including a solo shot and three runs scored. Lorenzo Cain adds another solo shot, an inside-the-park job, with two hits in total, two runs scored and a walk. Taylor Green with an RBI double and an RBI groundout, and Jonathan Lucroy continues to get on base via the free pass despite not hitting as well as many of us hoped/thought he would.

Huntsville Game Log

Yet another solid, clean all-around game for the Brewers down on the farm this evening.

Wisconsin Box Score

Cody Adams' suspension meant Daniel Meadows got thrown into starting duty, his fifth start of the year, and he didn't have a very good day on the mound. Peter Fatse with three hits, including a double and a triple, while Brett Lawrie goes 2-4 with a double and 2 RBI.

Sounds Split Doubleheader In Memphis

MEMPHIS - The Nashville Sounds split a doubleheader against the division-rival Memphis Redbirds on Wednesday evening at AutoZone Park, winning the opener, 1-0, before falling 5-1 in the nightcap.

Sounds right-hander Tim Dillard turned in the highlight of the evening and the best pitching performance by a Nashville hurler all season, working an eight-inning, one-hit shutout in the visitors' 1-0 victory in the night's first contest.

Dillard (10-4), who faced the minimum 24 batters in his outing and tossed just 65 pitches, allowed a first-inning Tyler Greene single then erased him on a double play grounder en route to retiring the final 22 Memphis batters in order. The right-hander leads all Pacific Coast League hurlers with his ten wins this season and lowered his ERA to 3.66 on the year after hurling Nashville's first shutout of 2009.

Jason Bourgeois went 2-for-4 for Nashville and drove in the winning run with a single in the top of the eighth inning. Hernan Iribarren opened the Sounds' eighth by drawing a walk from Redbirds reliever Jess Todd and later scored the game's lone run on Bourgeois' second single of the night.

Memphis starter Blake Hawksworth matched Dillard pitch-for-pitch on the evening, carrying a perfect game into the seventh inning before Bourgeois singled to become the Sounds' first baserunner. The right-hander allowed just the one hit while striking out five over seven scoreless frames in taking a no-decision.

Todd (4-2) drew the loss for the Redbirds after allowing the game's only run in his one inning of relief work.

In the nightcap, Memphis notched a split of the twinbill with a 5-1 victory.

The Redbirds drew first blood with a first-inning run off Sounds starter Chris Cody. Jon Jay led off the inning with a single to center before being erased on a Tyler Greene fielder's choice grounder. Greene then swiped second and scored on Allen Craig's RBI single to center.

Craig upped the Memphis lead to 4-0 in the third with one swing of the bat, belting a three-run homer to right off Cody. The blast, his 12th of the year, plated Jay (single) and Greene (double).

Nashville plated its lone run of the nightcap in the top of the fifth with a two-out rally against Redbirds starter Evan MacLane. Johnny Raburn ripped a double to center before scoring when catcher Carlos Corporan followed with an RBI single to left.

Memphis answered with a run of its own in the home half of the fifth when Greene scored on a double play grounder, bringing the score to its final 5-1. MacLane (4-9) turned in a quality start to pick up the win for Memphis. He allowed one run on six hits while fanning six over six innings.

Cody (4-5) took the loss for the Sounds after giving up four runs on seven hits in four frames of action.

The teams wrap up the four-game set with a 7:05 p.m. finale on Thursday. Left-hander Lindsay Gulin (5-5, 4.45) will toe the rubber for the Sounds to face Memphis righty Mitchell Boggs (5-4, 4.55).

Nashville Box Score

Outside of Johnny Raburn's three hits, there wasn't much offense in this one for the Sounds. Chris Cody would rather not face Cardinals' farmhand Allen Craig again.

Wisconsin Site Game Summary

Return home doesn't help

By Chris Mehring / Wisconsin Timber Rattlers

GRAND CHUTE, WI - The Dayton Dragons kept the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers on a rough ride with a 9-4 win at Time Warner Cable Field. Wisconsin returned home from a 1-5 road trip and found themselves down 2-0 before they got to the plate. Wisconsin fought back to tie the game a couple of times, but the Dragons grabbed the lead for good in the fourth inning on a homer by Josh Fellhauer and got solid relief work from Jordan Hotchkiss to keep the Rattlers off the scoreboard.

Dayton (39-59 overall, 11-14 second half) put together a two-out rally in the top of the first inning to go up 2-0. Rattlers starter Daniel Meadows retired the first two batters of the inning, but two singles and a walk loaded the bases. Another walk to Byron Wiley forced in a run. An errant pickoff throw to first by catcher Sean McCraw let in the second run.

Wisconsin (46-48, 12-12) wasted no time in tying the game in the bottom of the first. Pete Fatse doubled with one out and Brett Lawrie followed with an RBI double. Later in the inning, Lawrie scored on an RBI fielder's choice by Corey Kemp.

But, Dayton scored once in the third on another error on McCraw. The Dragons had runners at first and third with two outs. Miguel Rojas, the runner at first, broke for second. McCraw's throw went into center and Kevin Coddington, the runner at third, jogged home with the run that made the score 3-2.

Fatse and Lawrie combined to tie the game in the bottom of the third inning. Fatse started the inning with triple. Lawrie singled him in and evened the score 3-3.

But, the Dragons got the two-run homer to right from Fellhauer in the top of the fourth to go up 5-3.

The Rattlers pulled to within a run in the bottom of the fourth on a sacrifice fly by Juan Sanchez.

Then, the Dragons added two more runs in the top of the fifth. Byron Wiley tripled in the first run and scored on an RBI single by Mike Konstanty. That made the score 7-4 Dayton.

Hotchkiss entered in the bottom of the fourth and allowed an inherited runner to score on the sacrifice fly. But, that started a streak of 10 straight Rattlers retired by Hotchkiss. He would allow a two-out single to Fatse in the seventh inning, but got the final out of the frame before leaving the game in the hands of his fellow relievers.

Dayton tacked on two more runs in the top of the seventh on an RBI single by Coddington and a sacrifice fly by Rojas to account for the final runs of the night.

The Rattlers and the Dragons continue their three-game series on Thursday night. Evan Frederickson (3-5, 4.64) is the scheduled starting pitcher for Wisconsin. J.C. Sulbaran (2-2, 5.12) is scheduled to go for Dayton.

Thursday night is Thrivent Financial for Lutherans Night with a special Thursday night Fireworks display. Also, the first 1,000 fans into the game will receive a poster of Timber Rattlers All-Star Catcher Corey Kemp courtesy of Express Convenience Centers. In addition, it is also WIXX Thirsty Thursday featuring beer and soda for $1. Game time is 7:05 PM.
