berniebrewer4life
I had a lot of success when i asked about KC a few weeks ago, so i thought i would hit you guys up again for ideas for my east coast trip. Hitting up games in boston and pitt the next ten days, wondering if you guys know any "must see" things to do in those towns.

I'd recommend heading to Fenway a bit early before the game. There are a lot of sports bars in that area including the famous Cask 'n Flagn (not sure if that's spelled right). They also close down Yawkey Way on game days and make it into a block party atmosphere. You need your game ticket to get in as its connected to the stadium. There are gift shops, a bar, vendors in the street w/beer & food, usually live music, etc. If you're into history, the freedom trail is pretty cool - you can walk it or take a trolley tour. I can't remember what the area was called, but we stayed across the street from the Hard Rock Cafe and there were a ton of cool Irish Bars in that area and plenty of places to get a good lobster at a decent price.

#1 recommendation for Boston is to take the "Freedom Trail" if you have never done it. And do it right: start at the beginning and cross the bridge. and finish the whole thing. It will definately take up most of one day in Boston, but to see the history is worth it.

As far as for baseball games, definately get to Fenway 2+ hours before a game, especially on a weekend. the giant tailgate party and the bars next to the stadium are awesome.

I also recommend going to the Harvard area and hit up some drinking establishments if you are in Boston for multiple nights.

After a Brewer game last year, it was so crowded around the stadium we took a cab to the Harvard area and it was a great time.

I would also recommend a tour of Fenway. I did it a few years ago before a Sunday day game and it goes into the club level, press room and finished up on the green monster seats. My tour was the last of the day but I guess the earlier ones also went down on field to check out the scoreboard too.

And as others have said the Freedom Trail is outstanding.

If you want a cool Irish bar the locals go to, try Crossroads near Fenway. Beerworks is good too, with a bunch of microbrews, and closer to Fenway Park.

For amazing views of the city, try drinks at Top of the Hub at the Prudential Center. The food is decent, but pretty expensive for what it is, so I'd advise sticking to drinks. Neptune Oyster Bar allegedly has great lobster rolls (hot or cold!). If you have access to a car and want a seafood shack type experience, try Belle Isle.

I haven't gone on a Charles Riverboat cruise yet, but they look really fun and lower-key than the duck tour, though I've heard the duck tour is a lot of fun as well.

If you want, I can get more specific depending on where you are staying. Have fun!!

I dont know if the team hotel is the same for all the teams, but alot of teams stay at the Westin Convention Center hotel a few miles from PNC.
As they should. Best hotel experience that I've ever had.

Also, if you're up for sightseeing and a bit of a tough walk, go up the inclines. You can see most of Pittsburgh and where the rivers converge, plus a lot of the really nice restaurants are there. I proposed to my girlfriend (now wife) on one of the lookouts last year, so obviously Pittsburgh will always be an awesome place for me http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif

EDIT: woops, I actually stayed at the Omni William Penn hotel, which was the best hotel experience that I've ever had.

If I had Braun's pee in my fridge I'd tell everybody.
