Well that livens things up a bit. Credit the ump for not throwing anyone out after that.

Still not a fan of intentionally putting guys on, but considering the game situation it's probably not going to hurt as much.

He pointed his finger almost horizontally inside and slapped his left thigh repeatedly. Great pitch by Smith, right on the elbow.

Interesting start for Lopez. Great at the plate, but spacy on the basepaths and infield. Pretty much what we expected.

Ryan Braun likes Jesse Chavez, apparently.

hmm...hopefully it'll be on baseball tonight. Yay for Counsell making it so the Pirates hadn't quadrupled our run total.

YAY for Braun to make it a save situation for Capps now. Maybe a slumpbuster for him? who knows....

EDIT: Oh, it was the 9th....shows how much I paid attention to this game...

This seems like a good time to remind everyone that the Pirates blew a 4-run lead with 2 outs in the 9th against Philadelphia a little while ago. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif

I haven't seen the replay but if it's as obvious as it sounds, my guess is Mike Rivera will be in the lineup the next few days. That a no-brainer suspension - veteran catcher ordering a rookie pitcher to hit a guy, regardless of the history.

Edit: ....not that I wasn't thoroughly entertained.

Kendall was fired up, pushing Karstens down the line to first. Karstens almost had a look of fear staring at Kendall.

I normally hate statements like "this will finally get them going", but who knows. Kendall certainly was still fired up the next inning, and Braun finally had a good swing. We'll see what tomorrow brings I guess.

That moment with Kendall and Karstens alone made staying up this late worth it. That is one of the things which is fun about baseball, when allowed it polices itself. Tomorrow will be a new day and everyone will move on.

I went to PNC Park for the first time tonight. A 2.5 hour rain delay, a steady drizzle all night, and a lousy perfomance by Mike Burns has put me in a very bitter mood. The game felt over by the second inning. On top of that, we missed the fight and the 3 runs in the 9th inning because we decided to leave early since we were wet, cold, tired, and extremely disappointed with the large deficit at the time.

Nothing went right for me at all.

EDIT: Oh yeah, I HATE being only one game above .500.

While it was a disappointing loss (I turned it off before the scrap up, unfortunately, too), there were some positive signs. Lopez looks like a positive addition to the team, and it's great that Braun finally hit a home run, his first in almost a month. Hopefully this is the kick in the collective rear this team needs and they start going on a tear, starting with tonight's game.

Anyone else hear that loudmouth Pirates fan yell "Hey Prince, is ice cream a vegetable?!"

I'll admit, I'm having a bad day, but that kinda made me smile. Not because it's funny, but because hecklers are so lame.

I laughed because it was funny. That probably makes me lame. He could have gone with cake instead of ice cream, but ice cream was funny.
