Remember that awesome first-half Brevard bullpen?

Rob Wooten and Zach Braddock are in Huntsville, John Axford is in Nashville, and now Roque Mercedes is a D-back farmhand. Now that's breaking up a good thing. For the moment, Brevard is playing two short of the roster limit.

As for the other trade implication, what happens to Adam Heether's playing time (again) in light of Mat Gamel's return to AAA? Talk about someone who needs to escape, do you realize that the Brewers have the ability to add Heether to the 40-man roster immediately after this season, at which point they would effectively "own" him for three more years that he could be kept at AAA even further? It won't happen to the maximum, but it goes to show that a team could actaully own a player for ten full seasons without that player seeing the big leagues.

You'd think he'd play 2B or LF, but Money is so dumb that he bats Heether, his only 900+ OPS hitter 6th, with sub-800 hitters batting 1-5 every night, so nothing would suprise me.

Heether with another HR tonight.

Money plays who he is told to play. Prospects get the AB's, then the others.

That argument doesn't hold water, as Jason Bourgeois and Joe Koshansky are journeyman

He's 27, he's noit going to get better.

Why does he need to get better? His MLE's have him as an above average starter at 3B, SS, 2B, LF, and RF.

EDIT; To reduce my condesention

Way to do your homework. Jason Bourgeois and Joe Koshansky sure are bigtime prospects.

Plus he HAS been better this season than any other... Some people can be so blind at times...

So with the Wisconsin lineup struggling does anyone else think maybe it's be nice if they promoted a college guy like Prince or Ellington? I know they already called up Fatse and he has been playing left field but Prince is red hot and really could help spark that lineup and is a huge upgrade over Marseco or anyone else they have throw at short. Then with Dennis still out they could use a guy like Ellington with a monster bat. Komatsu maybe if he is good to go.

Plus I'd really just like to see Prince play this this season.

For a SS pegged as a good defender coming out of college Prince sure does make his share of errors, already 8 on the season. I know quality of the infields and so on play a role, but even so that total is extremely high for the numbers of games played.

Granted he was a lot younger, but Escobar made a ton of errors in his first few years too.

You can bring in all of the offense that you want to Wisconsin but on this last road trip they have given up 11, 9, 7, 5, 7 and 15 runs. Hmmmm.... where's the problem?

ha thats a good point but I didn't limit my comment to just the position players. I wouldn't mind Fiers, Bucci, Lamontagne, Odorizzi, or Rosario getting a call-up. Bucci definitally with his decent success in AA and the way he is carving teams up right now. I love how the Brewers took a chance by having Trejo and Zarraga in Wisconsin to start the season. Even if they did struggle thats fine, at least they were getting tested and seeing what they could handle. I wish the Brewers would do that with pitching. Take more chances cough cough Anundsen cough cough lol no way he should not be in AA yet.

Dykstra....... wow maybe his defense in centerfield wasn't so bad. Feel bad for the kid, he's not hitting, he's not fielding and then i dont know for a fact but the family stuff has to be tough on him to. As for Prince's defense I'm not tthat worried. Escobar is considered the by many the top defensive ss in the minor leagues and a future gold glover and even he has 13. I haven't listen to the games or seen any of them so I can't judge on the type of errors he's making. Like most of Escobars are from trying to make great plays but throw is off target. JJ also averaged around 13 errors a season.

Nashville Pre-Game Audio Chat with Pitcher Chris Cody

Detailed conversation regarding pitching strategies, including facing lefty bats...

Final: Nashville 7, Memphis (Cardinals) 6

Nashville Site Game Summary:

Link for Adam Heether photo, text follows --

Sounds Take Close One From Redbirds, 7-6

MEMPHIS - The Nashville Sounds beat the Memphis Redbirds 7-6 on Monday night at AutoZone Park in Memphis. Matt Ginter picked up his first save of the year after stranding the tying run 90 feet away to end the game.

The Sounds jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the first inning off Redbirds starter Clayton Mortensen. Outfielder Jason Bourgeois led off the game with a base hit and stole second base. Hernan Iribarren then brought Bourgeois home from second on a softly hit ball to center field for a 1-0 Nashville lead.

Later in the inning, Joe Koshansky added another RBI-base hit to score Iribarren and extended the Sounds' lead to 2-0. Adam Heether then hit his 11th home run of the season to right field, a two-run shot for a 4-0 Sounds' advantage.

AUDIO: Adam Heether Home Run

Absolute bomb...

The Redbirds tied the game at four on two long balls of their own off Sounds starter Chase Wright. Memphis' Tyler Greene led off with his bottom of the fifth with a solo homer to left field with Brian Barden hammering a three-run shot that tied the game.

The game stayed knotted at 4 until Wright scored on an Alcides Escobar single to centerfield in the top of the fourth inning that gave Nashville a 5-4 lead.

After Escobar and Iribarren reached base again to begin the top of the seventh inning, the Sounds added two more runs on sacrifice flies by Angel Salome and Koshansky for a 7-4 lead.

Memphis came within two runs at 7-5 in the eighth inning when Troy Glaus scored on a wild pitch from reliever Nick Green. The Redbirds plated another run in the bottom of the ninth on an RBI-single by Glaus, but couldn't do further damage and ended the game.

Wright (6-5) allowed four runs in the first inning, but kept the Redbirds scoreless over the next five frames to earn the win, striking out two in the process.

Mortensen (7-6) took the loss, surrendering six runs on 11 hits over six innings.

The Sounds and Redbirds continue with the second game of a four-game series at 7:05 PM CT on Tuesday night at AutoZone Park. Sounds right-hander Tim Dillard (9-4, 3.93) takes the hill against right-hander Blake Hawksworth for Memphis.

Nashville Box Score

Every spot in the batting order reached at least once, top of the order 7-for-15; Freddy Parejo is going to be the early beneficiary of Cole Gillespie's trade, wouldn't be surprising to see Drew Anderson return to Nashville soon; Hernan Iribarren 3-for-5, including a double, Adam Heether on base three times...

I heard Wisconsin is getting their CF back on Wednesday http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif That should add a spark to the offense. (Wonder if that means Cain will be moving up or if Miller will be playing the corner spots?) As for the recent run totals....yikes, not good.

Final: Brevard County 2. Jupiter (Marlins) 1, ten innings

Brevard County Box Score

Wow, what a game -- the Manatees rallied to a walk-off victory as Chris Errecart's two-out, 10th-inning single scored Lee Haydel, who had tripled. Brevard tied it in the ninth on Caleb Gindl's one-out homer. Former first-round RHP Jeff Allison was shooting for the complete-game shutout when Gindl pulled his blast to right field. Excellent work from LHP Lucas Luetge, RHP Brandon Rapoza, and LHP Rafael Lluberes; Errecart reached four times in five trips; Martin Maldonado threw out both attempted basestealers as the 'Tees played perfect defense...

Brevard County Game Log

The Hammerheads walked the lefty Gindl to face Errecart in the final frame...
