2009-07-10 Dodgers (Billingsley) at Milwaukee (Looper) : 7:05 PM CT [Brewers lose, 12-8]

Thanks Billy.
Not much he could have done with that one. It may have or may not have went foul it was a judgement call there. Even if Hall picks that up I don't think he throws out Martin at 1st.
Yeah, and people would have gotten on him for that if he'd let it go--he's kind of in a no-win situation right now with the fans (that he put himself in)

Still, with slow-motion and three different angles, itt's obvious he should've let it go!

Hey, great job Villy!

They could've really turned the momentum in the last two days if they just could've finished off a win. Parra's performance yesterday, Gamel's huge HR tonight. Two Ls to show for it. Huge downer.

shoot, not to mention blowing great outings by soup and gallardo within the past 10 days......

From the second that ball was hit, he had no play. He should have let it go and hoped. That was the only play to make.

Not that it matters.

Yeah, this has been a disheartening couple of days, in a way that back-to-back losses normally aren't, even in a skid like this.

These guys are just limping in.

Where it likely would've dribbled down the line and scored more than one. Tough situation, though, I agree. A run would've scored either way.

Not that it matters due to the failures of many, but how can anyone defend the play Hall made? Even if he makes the play at first another run has scored. There is no way you pick that ball up. When is the last time Jody Gerut did not hit a grounder to 2B? Why does Braun suddenly lose all patience when he wants to be the hero? I suppose this belongs in the vent, but very frustrated. As far as Melvin, trading for Halladay is still the best move he can make, if not for this year, next.

sargennm is exactly right. Hall's options were to a) try to field the ball and make the play, still allowing the run to score and likely not even getting the runner at 1st, b) try to field the ball and not make the play, still allowing the run to score, c) let it go, have it stay fair, producing the same result as (a) and (b), or d) let it go, have it roll foul, and give Villy another try at getting the batter out.

The only way the run does not score is if the ball goes foul. No replays were needed to figure this out.

The game should have been over in the 9th. Braun up with a man on 2nd with 2 outs. The game should have been over right there.
So, you're saying Braun definitely should have gotten a base hit when he only does so 32% of the time?

Ways Bill Hall gets out tonight:

A) Strike out swinging

B) Strike out looking

C) Foul out to catcher

D) Foul out to 3rd base

I'll go with B.

I'll go with A. Broxton will blow him out of the water.
