With Jeff Weaver going for the Dodgers tomorrow and Sunday looking like another great pitcher's duel between Kershaw and Yo, winning tonight would go a long way in improving the chances of the Brewers taking this series.

 

It didn't work out too well with the Cardinals, but they should treat Manny Ramirez the way they treated Albert Pujols -- don't give him anything to hit unless you're absolutely forced to, and let the other hitters in the lineup do the work. The Dodgers' supporting cast (Kemp, Ethier, Loney, etc.) is better than the Cardinals' (Ludwick, Ryan, Rasmus, etc.), but the same principle should apply.

Yay, a guy who isn't even a good option at the bottom of the order is leading off and Craig Counsell realized he's Craig Counsell again, hitting .245/.319/.402 since June 1st. He literally picked the worst possible leadoff and two hitter option for the players that he's playing.

I actually have a fairly good feeling about tonight. It has nothing to do with the lineup though. This just seems like the type of game the Brewers might actually show up for. Nothing more than a hunch.

What is with that lineup? Kendall should be hitting 9th, not leadoff, and Hardy needs to be higher than the 8th spot.

 

I thought Corey was healthy again? Apparently not. At least Gamel is in the lineup tonight.

Macha said last night that he wasn't sure if Corey would be ready for tonight's game, since it's been a few days since he's done anything baseball related. I'm glad to see Gamel hitting 5th, though. Dodgers broadcasters talking about building Miller Park next to County Stadium so fans would have enough room to tailgate. Called us the best tailgaters in the world. It's nice when announcers get something right!
