"The Maniac" : recent sighting?

hawing

We usually see "The Maniac" walking home from Brewers games along Blue Mound Road as we head westward/homeward. But it's been probably over a month now since we saw him. Has anyone seen him at games recently?

This is just one of those nagging questions that I've been forgetting to post here for a few weeks, since I only think of it when we're headed west on Blue Mound. Imagine if he hasn't been to games since May. Maybe that helps explain the team-wide scuffling.

I know who he is, but may be off on specifics.

If I recall: He goes to all the games, carries a duffel bag, wears a jersey with "Maniac" on the back and generally goes alone. We tried talking to him once and got a blank stare. He seems a bit out there.

Along the same lines of hawing's interest in The Maniac, my friends and I are always wondering what happened to our favorite County Stadium beer vendors. We had nicknames for 5 or 6 of them and have really never seen them in Miller Park. That all changed a few weeks ago when I saw one of them...it was exciting.

"His whole life is a fantasy camp. People should plunk down $2000 to live like him for a week. Sleep, do nothing, fall ass-backwards into money, mooch food off your neighbors and have sex without dating... THAT'S a fantasy camp."

I think I saw him leaving the bleachers last homestand. I don't remember off hand because I never make a note of seeing him.

But I have missed Super Brewer. Anyone know if he's still around?

The Maniac was dancing at the post game Hadley concert 2 weekends ago. I think it was Saturday. If it's a weekend game he is always at the post game shows outside fridays.

I can usually be found there as well. He is usually "dancing" while my girlfriend and I usually take up residence at one of the barrel tables towards the back.

On an off topic note. Will Hadley be back this weekend? Last weekend they proclaimed "Alot of people don't want us here because we're too loud and (expletive), but we're gonna (expletive) rock this (expletive) any way." maybe not the direct quote but close. Personally I prefer Boo the Band for that environment anyway. I also have said that West Allis' own "Shag" (www.shagmilwaukee.com I think) would be a good fit in that spot as well. Both are more up beat and danceable than the semi heavy Hadley.

I haven't noticed super brewer this whole year.

Is Super Brewer the guy that used to go on the painted ball and glove logo outside county and worship the stadium? I haven't seen him in a long time.

Boo The Band is terrible. What frontman wears a headset? They should have a hipper type rockin polka band or something after games. I guess I don't care one way or the other cuz I usually don't enter or exit through the garden.

Super Brewer is the guy at MP that is dressed as a superhero in blue and gold. At least, that's what all my friends call him.

I agree that Boo is not great, only better than Hadley in this specific circumstance. The headset is less laughable than the front man of the Toys( or is it the Sweet Tarts) who sported a waist mounted electric drumming pad for a set at the last show I attended.

A rockin polka band may sound good but I don't see much broad appeal to the after the game, waiting for traffic to clear crowd. I think the perfect band in this spot is upbeat and plays popish "classics". I think its in a way like friends re-runs, not too many people hate it. House or CSI might be better but appeal to a smaller demographic. The people I observe are looking to sing along and dance or lean on a table and enjoy their drink as long as the music is passable.

Back to the topic I'll look for the Maniac after the game tonight. He and I usually exchange a beer garden, over 30 "high five" after weekend brewer wins.

Also his jersey reads "The Maniac" can't remeber the number, maybe 97?

The Maniac wears number 94 (lives at 94th and Blue Mound, if I recall correctly).

It just seemed weird that we haven't seen him in a while; and it's not like we haven't been to our share of games lately.

The Maniac was in the house tonight sporting a cheese top hat. And enjoying, new to me, Fridays beer garden band HoiPoiLive.com or something like that.

They were ok considering the circumstance. Halfway between boo and hadley I would say.

No over 30 high fives only pats on the back with the knowledge that a new day dawns tomorrow.
